until I researched about him. While, I personally dont agree with him about his opinion, but I
know that he was the reasons that there are a lot of positive things because of him. However, I
didnt have much time due to this being 11pm, so I got to go to sleep to not fall asleep in class
tomorrow. Ill research more about him soon.

Reflection:
I did some research about French Revolution, and learnt that it was caused by poverty, food
shortage due to the incompetence of the nobles and royalty, specifically Louis XVI, so I added
some questions about the causes to the question list and as well as the board to help covering
the question that I think Yuyu didnt put in. While, my job is to research about Jean-Jacques
Rousseau, but I also need to make sure nothing important was missing.

Date: 4/09/2017
Goal: Do research on Hobbesianism, Lockeanism and Rationalism and add the question to
monopoly. Also discuss the project with Sine and Yuyu.
Essential Information
- Hobbesianism was came up by Thomas Hobbes
- Hobbesianism is a belief that no matter how cruel or bad the government is,
people have no right to rebel
- State of nature is a violent place, so government existed to protect us from each
other.
- John Locke came up with Lockeanism
- Lockesianism is a belief that people have the right to rebel, if the government
threatens them.
- State of nature is neither good or bad, people have freedom, but it is chaotic, so
thats why people gave up some of their rights to secure their other rights.
-
- Rationalism is a belief that people should believe in logic and reasons instead of religion.

Reflection:
Today, Yuyu, Sine and I have a meeting even though, today was an in-service day. Print wasnt
here today because he was in China. Three of us discussed our research and exchange the
information about our topic. I spent most of my time today researching Hobbesianism,
Lockeanism and Rationalism. The three ideology that weve chosen. I added a couple of
question about those ideologies to the question list and I would say that I did get a lot done
today.

Reflection:
I finished my part of the research and questions, but now all thats left is for me to find the
connections between all the topic that weve chosen. I didnt have time for the complete
connection, so Ill do it later.

Date: 13/09/2017
Connection
The things that Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Lockeanism have in common is the
equality. The third state or commoners might be highly move by that word because at a time
French commoners was facing food shortages problems, while nobles and royalty are eating
well and probably wont fix the problems any time soon, so the third states might thought that it
was unfair. Voltaire believed that people are born with equal worth. Rousseau believed that
owning properties caused people to corrupt due to superiority complex and by greed, so it could
also be interpreted as nobles are corrupted. Lockeanism also believed that If the government
are threatening the citizens, then the citizens have the right to revolt. Even though
hobbesianism doesnt support people revolting, but it said that people are bad or violent by
nature. People didnt do revolution peacefully and the people in power didnt try to stop it
peacefully neither, so human nature in Hobbesianism is on point for French revolution. At the
time of the revolution, the church have lots of power in France, and one of the goal of the
revolution was to take down the church because the revolution was influenced by Voltaire and
Rationalism about people should believe in reasons instead of religion. Voltaire also hated
fanatics or the church due to them getting rid of who threatens their power.
