Abstrak

Telah dilakukan isolasi minyak atsiri dari rimpang jahe emprit (Zingiber officinale
Rosc.) melalui proses destilasi stahl. Rimpang jahe emprit didestilasi stahl selama 4-
5 jam menghasilkan minyak atsiri jahe emprit sebesar 0,66% (v/b). Komponen kimia
minyak atsiri jahe emprit dianalisis dengan menggunakan GC-MS dan FT-IR
menunjukkan ada empat senyawa yang terbesar yaitu senyawa Benzene, 1-(1,5-
dimethyl-4-hexenyl)-4-methyl (11,81%), Zingiberene (15,42%), Alpha-Farnesene
(12,96%) dan Beta-sesquiphellandrene (10,96%). Uji aktivitas antibakteri minyak
atsiri jahe emprit yang dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar dengan konsentrasi
minyak atsiri 1%, 2%, 3% dan 4% v/v dalam etanol absolut. Minyak atsiri jahe emprit
membentuk zona hambat terhadap bakteri Saphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus
mutan, Shigella sp dan Salmonella sp mulai pada konsentrasi 1%. Semakin tinggi
konsentrasi yang diujikan semakin luas zona hambat yang terbentuk.

 INDENTIFICATION COMPOUNDS OF THE VOLATILE OIL GINGER
EMPRIT RHIZOMES (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) AND ANTIBACTERIAL
ACTIVITY TEST

Abstract

The volatile oil isolation had done from rhizomes of ginger emprit (Zingiber officinale
Rosc.) through stahl destilation procces. Rizomes of ginger emprit had been destilated
for 4-5 hours and produced deegree the volatile oil of ginger emprit content 0,66%
(v/b). Component of ginger oil analyzed using GC-MS and FT-IR show that contains
four compound the major is Benzene, 1-(1,5-dimethyl-4-hexenyl)-4-methyl (11,81%),
Zingiberene (15,42%), Alpha-Farnesene (12,96%) and Beta-sesquiphellandrene
(10,96%). Antibacterial activity test of the ginger oil emprit which done through
difution agar methode in 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% v/v the volatile oil in etanol absolute
concentration, the volatile oil will create a retardation area to Staphylococcus aureus,
Streptococcus mutan, Shigella sp bacteria and Salmonella sp bacteria start in 1%
concentration. If concentration seem higher area of retardation area will be wider.
