Abstract

Coronary Heart Desease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality over worldwide. The major
emergent manifestation is a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), for the type of the
STEMI patients, early myocardial reperfusion using primary percutaneous coronary intervention
(PPCI) is the most effective treatment strategy for reducing myocardial infarct size, preserving lef
ventricular ejection fraction and preventing the onset of heart failure.
Although myocardial reperfusion is essential for salvaging myocardium in STEMI patients, in the
proccess of restoring coronary blood flow to acutely ischaemic myocardium can paradoxically induce
cardyomyocite death in its self, and this phenomenon has been termed lethal myocardial
reperfusion injury .
There are novel cardioprotective strategies to prevent incident of lethal myocardial perfusion injury
in the patients undergoing PPCI.
