Skills Developed:
YMC 1 Keyboard performance, singing (solfege and lyric), ensemble
performance, creativity, ear training, note and rhythm reading. Repertoire
utilizes the features of the electronic keyboard and the imaginatively
themed titles help promote expressive performance.
YMC 2 Primary focus is still keyboard performance, singing (solfege
and lyric), creativity, and ear training continues. Greater emphasis is
placed on note/rhythm reading and ensemble playing to reflect the
students intellectual abilities and independence.
YMC 3 Primary focus is still keyboard performance with an increased
focus on traditional piano repertoire. Ensemble, creativity, and ear
training continues. Solfege, singing is now used mainly to develop
reading skills as students become fully independent.

experimentation, a unique and remarkable education system, now

Timely Instruction: means students are trained in musical skill
according to their developmental stage in life. The material and method of

Comprehensive Musical Training: Yamaha not only trains its
students to be able to perform on an instrument but also develops the
fundamentals of good musicianship, such as a good aural (pitch
discrimination) and rhythmic sense. Through activities such as singing in
solfege and playing in ensembles, Yamaha develops a well-rounded
musician, who will be able to do much more than play an instrument. One
of the goals of the Yamaha method is to develop an appreciation of music
as well as the ability to express it.
