CEMENT PLASTER
GENERAL PURPOSE

DESCRIPTION
HIGHLAND CEMENT PLASTER is a dry mix factory produced cement plaster for internal and external walls. It
can be applied by suitable plastering machine or manually. HIGHLAND CEMENT PLASTER is chemically
modified and only requires the addition of clean water.

ADVANTAGES
Quality controlled and factory blended to give a consistently high quality product.
Excellent adhesion.
No cement and sand storage required at site.
Reduces wastage.
Better workability.
Suitable for wide range of masonry/concrete backgrounds.
Fibre reinforced for shrinkage crack resistance.

DIRECTIONS
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all the dust, loose particles, oil, grease and patches of salts from the surface to be rendered. Spray
sufficient amount of clean potable water to neutralize the suction of the background. Allow the free water
to evaporate completely before the application of the cement render. The fixing of all attachments such as
pipes, electrical fittings, corner beads etc. should be carried out before the rendering is begun.
For rendering a normal surface the concrete must be hacked by hand or apply Highland Key Coat to achieve
better mechanical key on concrete surface prior to rendering.

Apply Highland Key Coat for Smooth surfaces on smooth concrete, which is modified with micro silica curing
compound and any other type of organic or inorganic admixtures.
Curing of the Key Coat with potable water is absolutely necessary 4 5 times a day for at least 2 days. In the
event of dissimilar backgrounds fix a steel wire mesh across the joint to resist the formation of cracks due to
differential movement of the backgrounds. For straight vertical joints of masonry background a V groove
should be made in the rendering when it is in wet condition.

MIXING
When applied with a plastering machine the water is manually adjusted with the flow meter once in the
beginning only. But in case of manual application mix one bag of 50kg material with 7.5 litres of clean
potable water. The mixing should be done with a suitable electric stirrer. Material which has begun to
harden or is caking should not be used.

APPLICATION
HIGHLAND CEMENT PLASTER can be applied to a thickness of 15 20mm in one coat with a spray machine.
But where the thickness is expected to exceed more than 20mm it should be applied in multiple coats.
When applied in more than one coat it is important that the previous coat of plaster should be cured for at
least 2 days and the surface must be scratched in order to receive further coats of plaster firmly on it.
Finishing of the render/plaster should always be done with a wooden float for external use and a metal
trowel for smooth internal work.

COVERAGE
2
Coverage is one litre per square metre per mm of thickness; therefore 1 x 50kg bag will cover 2m @ 15mm
thickness.

CURING
The plaster/render should be kept moist by curing 4 5 times a day with a gentle spray of clean potable
water for 3 days.

PRECAUTIONS
Rendering may be affected by the combined action of wind, sun and rain, hence protective measures should
be taken during application. Highland will not be held responsible for any claim arising out of non-
performance of the product due to any application procedure and or usage of product for non
recommended purpose. Please contact Highland technical team for more details on application of
HIGHLAND CEMENT PLASTER for purpose other than mentioned above on surfaces with special chemical
additives. The application of primer/paint or texture finishes should be carried out only when the plaster is
completely hardened and free from moisture.
