Globalization
What is Globalization - reminder :)
Globalization, as a concept, refers both to the "shrinking" of the world
and the increased consciousness of the world as a whole.
It is a term used to describe the changes in societies and the world
economy that are the result of dramatically increased cross-border
trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
Globalization helps create an interconnected world and global mass
culture, often referred to as a "global village."
- Since the end of the Cold War, MOST national governments have been
increasingly in favor of opening their doors to new immigrants and
refugees.
- This influx of foreign people into countries has created a cultural diversity never
seen before.
- Exposure to different cultures enriches society and educates and informs
citizens about histories, traditions and religions from around the world.
- It builds tolerance and understanding between peoples of different
backgrounds.
- It can also lead to misunderstandings and fear which often causes social
conflicts, violence, racism and discrimination.
