SECTION 16771

INTERCOM SYSTEM

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and special Conditions
and Division-1 (General requirements) will apply to the work of this section.

B. General Provisions for Electrical Work, Section 16010, applies to work of this section.

1.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A. Work includes providing all materials, equipment, accessories, services, hardware,


software, tests and operation and maintenance documentation necessary to complete
and make ready for operation, a complete Intercom System for the building in
accordance with Drawings and Specifications.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer's Qualifications: Firms regularly engaged in the manufacturer of


Intercom System of types, data required, whose products have been in satisfactory use
in similar service for not less than five years.

B. Service: Manufacturer / Supplier must have a warehouse in Egypt at which spare parts
are stocked and where a field service engineer who is a permanent, full-time employee
of the supplier, factory trained and qualified individual whose primary duty is field
service resides.

1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Submit Complete, Detailed, and Original Catalogue for the proposed
manufacturer and marked up for all of the proposed equipment.

B. Detailed Bill of Quantities indicating the model number, Clear Description, quantity
and Country of Origin for all of the proposed equipment.

C. Riser Diagram: Submit detailed riser diagram to indicate the connection between all of
the system components and the interface with all other system.

D. Shop Drawings: Submit dimensional layout on architectural background drawings


indicating all of the proposed equipment, part numbers, cables, raceways, . Etc.

E. Compliance list: submit a detailed point by point compliance statement with this
specification. Where the proposed system does not comply or accomplish the stated

function or specification in a manner different from that described and specified, a full
description of the deviation shall be provided.

1.5 EQUIPMENT WARRANTY

Guarantee equipment furnished under these specifications against defective parts and
workmanship under terms of the manufacturer's and dealer's standard warranties for a
period of not less than one year from date of initial start-up and Owner acceptance of the
system and include labor and travel time for necessary repairs at the job site.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

Refer to the attached manufacturers list.

2.2 INTERCOM SERVER

A. The Intercom Server shall be installed at the IT Room as indicated on the drawings,
the server shall have the following minimum specifications:
Housing with Power supply and 5 card slots
Wall Mounted Kit
Includes Cards for 12 Subscribers
Expended up to 16 subscribers
Interface for programming / remote maintenance
7KHz minimum Voice Quality

2.3 PRIMARY INTERCOM STATION

A. The Primary Intercom Stations shall be provided at the Exam area Counters and
shall have the following specifications:
2 Way Communication with any Intercom Station
Desktop for Master Stations
IP30
Plastic Reinforced Silicon Keypad
Anti-tilt device
Cardioid type goose neck microphone, noise cancelling
Internal Loudspeaker (8 ohm)
Color: Black

2.4 INTERCOM STATION

A. Intercom stations shall be installed at the exam units, it shall has similar
specifications to the primary intercom station except it shall have internal
omnidirectional microphone.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSPECTION

The Contractor will provide timely written requirements for the areas and conditions under
which the Intercom System is to be installed. The Contractor will notify in writing if the
conditions are found to be detrimental to proper completion of the work, prior to
installation.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install complete Intercom System, including associated control devices as indicated,


in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions, requirements of applicable
standards, and in accordance with recognized industry practices to ensure that
installation complies with requirements and serves intended function.

3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Upon completion of installation and after System has been energized, demonstrate
capability and compliance of the Intercom System with requirements.

B. Where possible, correct malfunctioning units at site then retest to demonstrate


compliance; otherwise, remove and replace with new units, and retest.

3.4 PERSONNEL TRAINING

Building Operating Personnel Training: Train Owner's building personnel in


procedures for starting up, and operating Intercom System. Furnish three paper
operator's manuals and one digital copy, providing installation and operation
instructions for the System.
