2.3. Duties and responsibilities


Position: N III
Desig: Adult- Female Nurse Supervisor
Respon. To: N V & N VI

Nursing Admin Functions


1. Individual counseling at guidance to nursing personnel with problems
such as absenteeism, tardiness, etc.
2. Collaborates with other health care team and ancillary staff to suffice
the needs and concerns of the patient and other stakeholders.
3. Demonstrate awareness in adherence to hospital policies, guidelines,
statutory on regulatory requirements
4. Assist in the development of plans, policies, procedures on standards
mandated to the delivery of nursing services for continual
improvement
5. Assists staff to officially utilize staffing resources to meet patient care
requirements and other professional responsibilities.
6. Supervises and monitors bedside endorsement of outgoing and
incoming staff nurses
7. Monitors and improves customer satisfaction rating and feedback
8. Ensures safety of the patient and employees at all times
9. Observes proper cohorting of patient in line with standards of infection
control
10.Provision of contingency plan regards to emerging and re-emerging
infectious disease and events covered by disaster management ,
(includes acts of terrorism, fire, natural disasters, accidents, etc,.)
11.Supervises the overall cleanliness of the workplace and ensures strict
implementation of infection control guidelines and waste management
program

MAN POWER AND DEVELOPMENT

1. Identifies staff needs related to professional growth and development


and participates in the orientation and training of new staff retrainees
and student affiliates
2. Monitors and evaluates staff performance on the nursing standards in
the delivery of quality nursing care
3. Serves as consultant and adviser to the staff in development, devising
on adapt work techniques and methods for resolution of problems
related to patient care
4. Ensures participation in the ff.:
Committee work meeting
Nursing and research duties
Qualify Management Systems (QMS) Improvement
Seminars and trainings

MISCELLANEOUS

1. Ensures the implementation of adherence to the ff.:


Wearing of complete prescribed uniform
Infection control standards
Hospital policies and procedures
Patient safety
Health care waste management
Updates PRC and IVT card in adherence to statutory and
regulatory requirements
2. Performs other delegated tasks as directed

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

NURSING ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTION:

1. Orients and guides newly hired nursing attendant/s and janitorial services.
2. Delegates daily ward assignment of activities to Nursing attendant I and
janitorial services.
3. Facilitates drug requisition and supplies to pharmacy and CSSU.
4. Facilitates referral to other concerned department.
5. Forwards accomplished discharged charts at Medical Records and Billing
Section
6. Participates in the orientation of newly nursing attendant/s and janitorial
services.
7. Assists in the implementation of hospital and ward rules, regulations, and
policies.
8. Checks daily inventory of articles and supplies.
9. Checks functionality of all medical equipment

NURSING CARE FUNCTION:

1. Receives and endorses ward equipment, supplies, linens and articles to and
from the other shift
2. Ensures daily hygiene of patients by changing the linen, pillow cases and
hospital gowns
3. Obtains patients vital signs and records it thereafter
4. Records intake and output of patients as delegated
5. Assess and transports patient safely
6. Observes proper handling of specimen to the laboratory section
7. Assists weak and restless patient especially those with no watchers
8. Performs post mortem care to deceased patients

MANPOWER AND DEVELOPMENT:

1. Attends and participates on scheduled meetings (unit), general assemblies,


trainings, seminars, (inside or outside hospital) and other hospital activities
2. Participates in the improvement of quality management systems

MISCELLANEOUS:

1. Maintains cleanliness, orderliness and sanitary condition of the department


2. Perform other delegated tasks
POSITION: Nurse I

DEISGNATION: ADULT I

RESPONSIBLE TO: Nurse I

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Nursing attendant II, and Nursing attendant I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

NURSING CARE:

1. Receives and endorses patients, charts, equipment, articles drugs and


supplies to the next shift.
2. Perform direct nursing care procedures, which includes bedside nursing,
hygiene, pre and postoperative nursing care, and admission and
discharge duties
3. Checks and verifies patiensts vital signs taken by nursing attendant
4. Carries and records doctors order
5. Updates kardex based from doctors order
6. Identifies and attends to wards needs and problems
7. Prepares and administers medication through oral, parenteral and other
treatments as prescribed by the standards in giving treatment and
medication
8. Maintain records reflecting patients condition, medication and treatment
9. Assists the nursing attendant in rendering morning care
10.Provides clean and safe environment for patients, watchers and
personnels
11.Gives health teaching to patients, watchers and visitors
12.Attends to patients and relatives calls
13.Coordinates with other sections in the hospital regarding patient care such
as Medical Social Service, Blood Bank, Motor Pool, and the like
14.Refers non-functioning equipment and unit facilities to the maintenance in
the absence of Nurse III and Nurse II
15.Requests drugs and medical supplies
16.Interprets and implements hospital regulations and policies
17.Reviews and completes discharged patients chart before sending it to the
record section
18.Accomplishes ARF of discharged, HAMA, or dies patients to be submitted
to the infection control office

MANPOWER AND DEVELOPMENT:

2. Adheres to statutory and regulatory requirement of the institution

Office. Performs other delegated tasks
5. Demonstrates good human relations necessary for harmonious working
relationship

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

NURSING ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTION:

1) Act as unit in the absence of the nurse supervisor


a) Checks the attendance of the nursing personnel and makes the necessary
changes in case of absence of personnel
b) Ensures all nursing personnel are in their complete prescribed uniform while
on duty
c) Assist in monitoring staffing ratio/acuity/need on a daily basis to ensure safe
staffing levels
d) Supervises the monthly inventories of linens, articles and equipment used in
their respective units
e) Makes accurate written reports to the RNS of all unusual incidents that
occurred during tour of duty with accompanying preliminary investigation
results
f) Facilitate in requisition of supplies and equipment for ward use
g) Prepares and ensure safekeeping of ward records and reports
2) Supervises the nursing care given to the patient of all nursing activities
3) Reports any misbehaviour or misdemeanour of nursing personnel during his/her
tour of duty
4) Supervises the nursing attendant on duty
5) Demonstrates awareness of hospital policies and procedures, protocols, and
uses same as a basis for decision making
6) Supervises over-all cleanliness of the workplace and ensures strict
implementation of infection control guidelines and waste management program
7) Creates a professional environment. Supports organization decisions/goals
8) Make job orders in the absence of the nurse supervisor
9) Participates in the development of the internal policies and nursing standards
10) Prepares and monitor nursing staff schedule in the absence of the supervisor
