this issue of MEA Life+ presents stories of his life
and works, especially his royal duties, which reflect that
King Bhumibol Adulyadej had served devotedly with his
might and capability to bring forth his peoples well-being
without expecting any return. Everything that he had done
was not for the royal institution or himself, but for over
60 million of his children throughout the nation.
OUR LOSS IS NOT WASTED I truly hope that this loss will not become wasted. From
now on, everyone must be strong and adopt his royal
suggestions to apply in daily life. As Thai subjects who
were born in the reign of our beloved father, King Bhumibol
Adulyadej, we shall carry on his will and create great things
together for our country.

the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) by the Better Care and Power Quality
Department has organized MEA Safe 1 and MEA Safe 2 projects, which are electrical
system check-up services.

Many may not know that MEA in good condition, it is inspected by

Stepping out of the box to think differently may not
only lead to divergence, but bring life to its great

destination which is beyond its expectation as well.
This is particularly true and already proved by
- Mor Eem - D.D.S. Napasporn Chamnansit, the first
Thai lady who conquered Mount Everest in Nepal.
She gained such a wonderful life experience from
chasing her dream. The price she paid was courage
and perseverance even though there was sweat
along the way.

Inspiration that generates inner strength.

My ultimate goal was to
bring picture of Thailands I gained confidence and courage to climb up Mount
King Bhumibol and Everest, which was difficult thing for me to accomplish in other

Khun Neung became my idol and inspiration. Personally,
I also like mountains. I used to study very hard and didnt spend
much time to exercise. After graduation, I had some free time
to try things that I never did before. Then, I realized that I loved
mountaineering. Being with nature made me happy as well as
energized me to have enough strength and dare to climb up the
mountain. My ultimate goal was to bring picture of Thailands
King Bhumibol and Thai flag to the Mount Everest summit.

 If anyone tries something real hard
as well as devotes all efforts onto it,
then, there is almost nothing that would
be impossible. Even though there were
some disappointments on the way, by
cooperation between Mor Eem and
Khun Khomrat (Khomrat Pichitdej),
the Thai Everest 2016; fund raising

was finally completed. The rest was just
striving to achieve the goal.

 The projects activities include infrastructure development,
land development including development of technologies for
agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery. Moreover, know-
ledge development and technology transfer are organized by
providing trainings to Laotians as well as encouraging them
to apply knowledge and technologies to their occupations.
The project is deemed as an important foundation for human
lifes basic structure development. One of tangible outcomes
is a small dam at southern of Huaysorn, which alleviates
effects of droughts that occurred to people around such area.
Meanwhile, water from the small dam can be used in off-season
paddy field during dry season.
Moreover, the project also carries forward productivity of
agricultural household sector as well as provides knowledge
regarding new rice varieties farming and integrated farming,
which were graciously suggested by His Majesty.
It is delighted that after only a year of the projects
operation, Laotians lives had significantly changed. Electrical
supply and roads could reach their houses. In the meantime,
irrigation system could support their agricultural activities.
These outcomes have actually enhanced their quality of life.

given to members of the Lions Club, Thailand,
regarding the Thai Encyclopedia Project
on January 5th, 1970, he said:
...We must provide knowledge to
children and people of the next generation
by whatever we can do. Hence, I would
like to talk about this encyclopedia, which
can help to solve some problems. Actually,
there are some other ways to solve
problems too, but firstly I would like to have

would be supportive for some people
such as parents, who are not teachers.

another. Then, children will trust their

The Thai Junior Encyclopedia provides

divided into 3 levels for children from 8-12
years old, 12-14 years old and young
people to adult.
In addition, the contents are appro-
priate for each level. They are not only for

of knowledge that gained from reading
in order to solve life problems.

retrieving it from solar cells and the ESS.
To study and develop efficient electrical generation and
distribution model in the building as well as electrical power
stability and quality from renewable energy, the electrical load on
the 9th floor is separated from MEA Rat Burana buildings load
center as per shown in picture no. 2. Moreover, its dashboard

Thai flags and King Bhumibol Adulyadejs royal flags, it was an
image that showed loyalty of Thai subjects as well as their ecstasies
on the auspicious occasion in which King Bhumibol Adulyadej had
reigned for 60 years. His reigning duration was longer than every
Thai kings. King Bhumibol Adulyadej was the worlds longest
reigning monarch as well.
Part of the royal programs of the 60th Anniversary Celebration
was the welcoming of visiting monarchs. Out of 29 reigning
monarchs worldwide, 25 of them accepted the royal invitation
to join the celebrations. 13 sovereigns were themselves in
attendance, while another 12 sent their royal representatives.
This marked the worlds biggest reunion of royal heads of states.
On this occasion, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit
together with members of the royal linage including all monarchs
and dignitaries took photograph altogether at the reception hall of
the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. Today, it is one of the historical
photographs that makes Thai people recall their happiness on such
auspicious day.
Throughout 60 years, King Bhumibol Adulyadej had
reigned his kingdom with ten principles of a righteous king.
He committed and adhered to his accession oath given prior
to acceding to the throne that he should reign for the benefits
and happiness of all Thai people and the country. He was
complimented globally as the Development King who had
dedicated himself and his exceptional wisdom to serve
multifarious duties. He initiated over than 4,000 royal
projects and introduced the philosophy of Sufficiency
Economy as core principle for his people to apply in their lives.
The 60 th Anniversary Celebration of King Bhumibol
Adulyadejs accession to the throne; thus, was the great and
auspicious moment that would be recorded in Thai history as
well as imprinted in Thai memory forever.

I recall a story of Mahajanaka,

 Lesson 2 If we want to be his royal
servants in all our lives, we must
behave well since living in this life.
Many people update their statuses and profile pictures with
the phase May I forever be your servant in all my lives. If we wish to
be like that, we must reflect on ourselves whether our way of life at
present is able to lead us to the world that His Majesty has gone to.

Lesson 3 Its time to be matured.

Thais are like ungrown ones. Whenever they confront with
unfixable situations, they would always look for help from the
Father. As the Father is not here with us anymore, we have to lean
on ourselves. We must be stronger and exercise our wits even more.

Lesson 4 Dont let this incident become

waste.
5 Over the last few weeks, Thais had opportunities to learn and
become deeply influenced by King Bhumibol Adulyadejs virtues,
but I cant help feeling that for not very long; we will forget all of these
and keep living our lives with the same attitudes. I just hope that this
great loss would cause us to chew on and change ourselves to be
better persons as well as to live our lives in compliance with His
Majestys teachings, which had been given to us throughout decades.

... Lesson 5 Life must go on.
Three days after His Majesty passed away while my wife, our
baby and I were walking in the village, we heard many birds whistling
in bushes. We looked up and saw indigo sky contrasted with golden
ray of the sun. During the time of our mourning, the sun still shines
as well as birds still sing. Both seem like to imply that if we want to
cry, just cry until we feel relieved. Then, we must get up and move
on. This reminded me of words in a T.V. series: Buddha...

Ananda, dont be sad. Buddha dwells everywhere; in leaves,

brown rice because they think that it is for poor people. Brown rice is better
and healthier. White rice looks flavorful, but its benefits are gone. People say
that poor folk eat brown rice so I am poor too.

Our ancestors had been familiar
for a long time with eating
coarse rice. Although its colour
is not off-white and does not
seem to be flavorful, brown rice
contains abundant of nutrients.
Hence, many Thai households
are having brown rice as a
staple.
On November 18 , 1998 at his royal

rice farm project situated at Bang Kradan
Village, Bang Taen Sub-district, Ban Sang
District, Prachinburi Province, King
Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Royal
Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
harvested rice. He also talked to reporters
about benefits of brown rice, which could
make human body strong. By his valuable
words, people became aware of brown
rices benefits and have eaten more brown
rice since then.
Rice is Thais staple while rice farming
is like a backbone of the country. Therefore,
His Majesty had paid much attention on rice
development. He had searched for
methods to apply new age technologies
with rice farming in order to increase its

in Suan Chitralada since year 1961. After
trial plantings, he provided good rice varieties

Without certainty on how psychology or other sciences describe 70
about habit and characteristic formation process, I would like to
share briefly about practicing idea from Thich Nhat Hanh,
a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, which I have learnt and practiced.
He suggested us to notice and learn to manage heritage, which
is referred to as habits and characteristics that passed to us from
ancestors in 3 kinds of family.

families from bloodlines and spiritual relations, which are first and
second kinds of families. We are going to ponder about
heritage from ancestor of nation. We can see that most
inhabitants in a country will have some common habits and

experienced extremely lost from wars and encounters disasters
constantly.

Sra Pathum Palace is Mahidol familys important place
because it was the palace where King Bhumibol Adulyadej had
stayed when he was young before moving to live in Switzerland.
Moreover, on April 28th, 1950, the royal marriage ceremony
between His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej (his title at
that time) and M.R. Sirikit Kitiyakara (her title at that time) took
place at Phra Tamnak Yai in Sra Pathum Palace in which Queen
Savang Vadhana presided over the royal marriage ceremony.
In the past, Sra Pathum Palace was the residing place of
Queen Savang Vadhana with Prince of Songkla and his family.
Later, King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously granted Sra Pathum
Palace to H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for dwelling.

Phra Thinang Suthaisawan Prasat is situated on the eastern 3
wall of the Grand Palace. The hall sits between Deva Phitak and
Sakdi Chaisit Gates. It was built during King Rama Is reign. On

Adulyadej together with Queen Sirikit appeared on Sihabunchorn,
Phra Thinang Suthaisawan. It was his first royal meeting with his

 Lausanne is a city in southwest of Switzerland. This city
is full of beautiful landscapes and situates on the shores
of Lake Geneva. Embraced by Alpe, the city of Lausanne
is famous for sports, arts and cultures. However, this
city means so much deeper for Thai people. It was a
place where Mahidol, a tiny royal family, had resided as
ordinary people in order to avoid political chaos. Two

little princes, who had grown up and spent times to study

8 in Lausanne, later became kings and reigned the King-
9 dom of Thailand; a faraway country in other side of the
world. Both kings are His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol
.. 2476 (Rama VIII) and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej
- (Rama IX). Both princes together with their elder sister,
Princess Galyani Vadhana moved to reside at Lausanne
in year 1933 and had been parented closely by Somdet
Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani. By that time, His

Park is traditional wood pavilion in the
Jaturamuk style. Its interior showcases

irritation. A skin doctor came to see him for medical treatment.
Anyhow, the skin expert wasnt skillful in royal terms of reverence;
he respectfully asked the king:
Ah... Your Majesty, how long have you become kun (itchy)?
(kun in Thai means itchy, pronounce the same way as pregnant).
The king, laughed and then said Im not a woman, how could
... I become pregnant?
Anyhow, He thought that the doctor probably did not know
much about royal words used for calling each organ. He graciously
said to the doctor that Well, shouldnt we speak English, should
we? Therefore, while examining the kings symptom, the doctor
spoke English instead and everything went on alright.
