Triage Census Advanced Test Management Software Installation Guide

Dear Valued Triage Customer,

Enclosed in this package is a CD which will enable you to do a new or upgrade


installation of Triage Census ATM Software. This version of the software contains
important changes to enhance program operation and support our latest Triage
Meter software and diagnostic tests. If you have any questions about Triage
Census ATM or the upgrade, please call our Technical Service Team at 1-888-246-
7483.

Important Note for LIS Connected Customers!


If you have an existing installation of Triage Census ATM software that is interfaced to your
Laboratory Information System (LIS), installation of this update must be coordinated with a
Biosite Technical Support Engineer.

Please call Biosite Technical Service at 1-888-246-7483 to coordinate an upgrade with a


Technical Support Engineer.

Minimum Computer System Requirements


A Pentium 4 or newer processor running at 1.5GHz or faster
512 Megabytes of RAM minimum, 1 GB Minimum and 2GB recommended for LIS
connected systems
5 Gigabytes of free fixed disk space
A CD-ROM or DVD drive is required to load the software
Minimum Display resolution is 1024 x 768 Pixels

Operating System Software


Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 or Windows 7
Internet Explorer 6 or greater

Please review the following guidance before proceeding

1. If you intend to perform a new installation of Triage Census ATM Software,


Start on the next page in the section titled Installation Instructions for Triage
Census ATM Software

2. If you are Upgrading a current installation of Triage Census ATM Software,


start in the section titled Upgrading Triage Census ATM Software

3. If you wish to perform a Client Only Installation of the software to connect to a


currently running installation of Triage Census ATM software within your
enterprise, proceed to the section titled Client Only Software Installation.

Triage Census ATM Software Installation Instructions for the full Server
and Client Package

Be advised that the installation process may be lengthy and the computer might
appear to be stalled at times. So please be patient during and after the installation
process and wait for all disk activity to cease before attempting to launch the
program.

1. Review the System Requirements on page one of this document to ensure that your
computer will run this software.

2. Reboot the Triage Census ATM computer.

3. Logon to Windows as a User with Windows Administrative Privileges.

4. Disable your Anti-Virus software so that it does not interfere with the installation.

5. Close any other programs you may have running.

6. Insert the Triage Census ATM CD and wait for the installation to launch1. This may
take a couple of minutes on some systems. Please be patient and do not attempt to
abort or manually start the installation unless a couple of minutes have gone by.

7. The installation routine will continue with the following windows and prompts

a. Choose Setup Language: Click Next for English Language installation or


select another language from the list and then click Next.

b. Welcome Screen: Click Next to begin the installation of the software


components.

c. Setup Type: Accept the default installation on this screen Standard Triage
Census ATM Installation (Census Server and Client) and then Click Next.

d. Crystal Reports XI Setup: Accept the License Agreement for Microsoft .Net
Framework 2.0 by clicking the Accept button on this screen. The installation
program will install .Net Framework 2.0 and then Crystal Reports XI.

e. Welcome to the Triage Census ATM Setup Wizard: Click Next at this
screen to continue with the installation of Triage Census ATM Software
components.

f. License Agreement: Click on the I Agree button to accept the License


Agreement and the click Next.

g. Installation Complete: Please note that while this screen is titled


Installation Complete, the installation of additional software components
will continue after closing this screen. Click Close to continue.

h. Extracting Files and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup: A progress


window will show that the installation program is extracting files. As soon
as the extraction process is complete, the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
Window will appear. SQL Server components will be installed. Please note
that installation of the Microsoft SQL Server may be a lengthy process.

i. You must restart your computer prior to running Triage Census ATM:
This final installation screen prompts you to restart your computer. Click
Finish and then reboot the computer. Important Note: The installation
process is not complete yet. Upon restart of Windows, the newly installed
software will perform a variety of post installation routines that must not be
interrupted. How long this may take is very dependent on the speed of your
system. As a rule-of-thumb, do not attempt to start Triage Census for at
least 10 minutes after rebooting or until your hard drive activity ceases;
whichever comes first.

8. Installation is complete. Please refer to the Triage Census ATM User Guide for
instruction on how to configure and use Triage Census ATM

Upgrading Existing Installations of Triage Census ATM Software

The CD in this package will update all version of Triage Census ATM software to
the current version. This installation CD may be used to upgrade both Client/Server
installations of the software and Client Only installations.
If you are upgrading a Client Only installation of the software, you must first upgrade
the Master Client/Server installation in your enterprise before upgrading the Client
Only installation. Use this CD to upgrade the Master Client/Server installation and
then upgrade the Client Only installation.

1. Reboot the Triage Census ATM computer.

2. Logon to Windows as a User with Windows Administrative Privileges.

3. Disable your Anti-Virus software so that it does not interfere with the installation.

4. Close any other programs you may have running.

5. Insert the Triage Census ATM CD and wait for the installation to launch2. It may
take a couple of minutes for the installation to start. Please be patient and do not
attempt to abort or manually start the installation unless a couple of minutes have
gone by.

6. After the installation routine begins no input or action is required. The installation
program will detect what version you have installed, install the appropriate updates
and then prompt you to reboot the computer.

7. Reboot the computer when prompted. After the computer reboots wait until all
programs have loaded and then launch Triage Census. Please note that after
rebooting the computer and starting Triage Census ATM, it may take longer than
usual for the program to start up and allow access. Some installations will undergo
a database update process during the initial program startup. Its very important
that you be patient and wait for this process to finish. This process should never
take more than about 15 minutes so if Triage Census is unresponsive or has not
started within that time, please call Technical Services at 1-888-246-7483 for
assistance.

8. Upon software launch, installation is complete. Please refer to the Triage Census
ATM User Guide for instructions on how to use Triage Census ATM features.

Client Only Software Installation


Please read this entire section before proceeding with a Client Software
installation
The Client Software installation must be the same Software Release Version of
Triage Census software that is installed on the Master Triage Census ATM computer.
Before attempting to install the Client software, check the version of Triage Census
ATM Software installed on the Master system. On all installations of Triage Census,
Software Release Version information can be found under Help / in the pull-down
menus.

Client Only Software Installation Overview

Triage Census ATM Software is a client/server application. If there is an existing


installation of Triage Census ATM software within your enterprise, you may install the
Client version of the software on another computer and use that computer as a Triage
Census ATM Workstation. The Client Software will connect to the Master installation
of Triage Census ATM over your Local Area Network and allow you to perform most of
the functions available in the Master installation of Triage Census ATM. The Client
Software has the same look and feel as the full installation of Triage Census ATM.

Preparation for a Client installation

To prepare for the installation you will need;


1. A Computer that meets the minimum requirements as listed on page one of this
document3.
2. Windows Administrative Privileges to install software on the Computer
3. To disable your anti-virus software to keep that anti-virus software from interfering
with the installation
4. Know the computer name of the PC that has the Master Installation of Triage
Census ATM Software

To get the name of the computer that has your Master installation, go to that
computer and right-click on the My Computer icon and choose Properties.
Under the Tab Computer Name you will find the name of that computer next to the
label Full Computer Name. If your computer is part of your Windows Computer
Domain, the computer name may be displayed with the fully qualified Domain
Name. For example: LabComputer.myhospital.com. Only the computer name is
required and that is the name displayed to the left of the first period in the string
of characters. In this example the computer name is LabComputer.

Insert the Triage Census ATM CD and wait for the installation to launch4. It
may take a couple of minutes for this to occur on some systems. Please be
patient.
The installation program will prompt you for the Setup Type. Click on the
menu choice Triage Census ATM Client Only (Connect to an existing Census
Server) and then click on Next.

On the next screen, enter the name of the Master Triage Census ATM Computer. Click
Next at the bottom of this screen to continue.

After clicking Next, the Triage Census ATM installation program will install the
Client Software and prompt you to reboot your computer. After the computer
reboots, you will be able to launch Triage Census ATM by clicking on the Triage
Census ATM icon on the Windows Desktop of by choosing Triage Census ATM
from the program group Biosite within the Windows Start / Programs menu.

instruction on how to setup and use Triage Census ATM
