ABSTRACT

THE RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHERS KNOWLEDGE ON PATTERN OF


GIVINGCOMPLEMENTARY FOODSOF BREAST MILK TOWARD
NUTRITIONSTATUS OF TODDLERS AND CHILDREN OF
AGE6-24 MONTHS IN MUARA BUAT HEALTH
CENTER BUNGO
IN 2017

Background: Nutritional problems occur in every life cycle. The first two years
period of life occurs rapid growth and development. Nationally, the prevalence of
underweight nutritional status based on (BB / U) in 2013 is 5.7% malnutrition,
13.9% less nutrition, 75.9% better nutrition, and 4.5% more nutrition. Jambi
Province in 2014 had 691 people (0.3%) of children under five who were BGM and
in Bungo District there were 30 people (0.1%) of children under five with BGM. In
2015 there were 39 (0.4%) of BGM toddlers and in Muara Buat Health Center there
were 4 people (1.0%) toddlers with BGM.

Methods: This study was an analytical survey using primary data with random
sampling, 78 mothers with infants aged 6-24 months in Muara Buat Health Center
Working area in December 2016 - May 2017.

Results: It is known that the majority of respondents have good knowledge as many
as 45 people (57.7%) and the majority of nutritional status of infants and children
aged 6-24 months which is good as many as 74 people (94.9%) and there
isrelationship of mothers knowledge on pattern of giving complementary foods of
breast milk toward nutrition status of toddlers and children ofage 6-24 months.
