On the Second of October we've started our practicum, upon arriving at

ishbillya primary school me and my classmates we went to the office to

introduce ourselves to the administrative staff. While the principle was away
that day we were able to met the secretaries, the vice principle and a handful
of kind faced teachers which greeted us with smily faces which really made
me feel comfortable. After that each one of us went to her class with the MST,
and I took grade 1level.
Ishbillya primary school is established in the 80's, so it's too old school but
with new minded and updated teachers, for example my MST Ms Fatima, she
try to use different learning styles despite the curriculum is heavy for grade 1
which require to do all the work by using the text book.
In my class, there were many different posters on the wall detailing different
kinds of classroom expectations and behaviors. Also I noticed that the
teacher assign a small area on the white board to attached the messages that
are written by the students for the teacher which improve a positive
relationship. From my observing of the teacher teaching I saw the she
provide lots of verbal instruction with different tones, pitch and pauses
between sentences which really grab the little children's attention and make
them listen with pleasure. Moreover, she provide for them different objects to
improve their learning which is really effective because I belief that this is the
only way to know how to learn, further more it fit the theory of John Dewey
Learning by doing.
If I had to pick one word to describe my first week at my grade 1 class, it
would simply be magnificent. I had the chance to experience new strategies
and get a sense of the curriculum, class structures, and methods of teaching
involved in each unit of mathematics, science and english.
