Project name:- Effluent stream treatment of GSP Crop Science Private Ltd

Abstract

Herbicides are chemical substances used to control unwanted plants. GSP Crop
Science Private Ltd., established at Vadodara in early 70's is mainly engaged with
fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. They are producing a herbicide
named Propanil. The principal mode of propanil's herbicidal action against weeds
is inhibition of their photosynthesis and CO2 fixation. Propanil can be prepared by
reaction of 3, 4-dichloroaniline with propionic acid in the presence of thionyl
chloride. The effluent coming out from the plant is a liquid mixture which they
want separate or treat. The main aim of this study will be to analyze the
characteristics of the liquid mixture and to find out the methods by which either it
can be separated into pure components or it can be purified.
Project name:- Solvent recovery from waste crude

Abstract

There are many chemicals present in waste crude which can be used in industry if
they are separated. Few alternatives exist to dispose of or recycle this waste.
Because of increasingly stringent environmental regulations, landfilling is
becoming less accepted and more expensive, making disposal problematic. The
main aim of this study is to first characterize the waste crude to determine its
composition and then further efforts will be done to separate useful chemicals from
the waste crude so that they can be utilized further.
