Aim

The aim of this experiment was to synthesize 7-HYDROXY-4-METHYLCOUMARIN from

rection of resorcinol and ethyl acetoacetate reaction.

Mass obtained = 5.55g

Hence ethyl acetoacetate is a limiting reagent since it has got a lesser no of moles.therefore,
mass of expected product = number of moles of ethyl acetoacetate *molar mass of 7-
HYDROXY-4-METHYLCOUMARIN

= 0.0501 mol (176.1687 g/mol)

= 8.826
