Progressing onto a placement year
4 Year Programme
If you meet the first year criteria, your progression will be confirmed
by the Placement Officer in July
Students who do not meet the requirement will be automatically
transferred to the 3 year programme and notified by the Placement
Officer
If you have decided to not undertake a placement year please let the
school know ASAP.

3 Year Programme
If you meet the placement requirements, you will be invited to
transfer to the 4 year programme in July. It is recommended that all
students are on the correct stream before the start of teaching week
in September so that you do not miss out on placement
communication.
Progressing onto a placement year
Students on a Tier 4 VISA who decided to transfer to the 4 year
programme will be required to apply for a new VISA. It is important
that you return back in September on the correct VISA if you are
extending your duration of study. Please visit the Student
Immigration Team for the latest information on the requirements.

The tuition fees for the placement year is significantly reduced.

Home/EU students will pay 1800 and international students will
pay half of their tuition fees.

What to consider when making your
choices
Have you met the pre-requisite / co - requisite requirements?

Have you read the course outline on the course unit database on My
Manchester to ensure you know more about the course content?

Have you checked how the course is assessed ie. exam, essay, group work or
a mixture - would you be happy undertaking this assessment?

Consider your summer exam results and reflect on the last year; what went
well and what could have gone better? How does this affect your course
choices for next year?
Remember! - you have the first two weeks of term to attend
lots of different lectures before finalising your course
choices. Don't waste it!

Time to chat!
At your table, chat with your friends/peers about what you are thinking of
choosing next year and why. Think about;
- what did you enjoy this year? what didn't you enjoy?
- what is your preferred method of assessment? do you like having a big
exam at the end of the year or more frequent assessments throughout the
year? will this affect your choices?
- what subject areas are you more interested in?
- have you considered what you want to do after graduation and how your
course choices could affect this?
Hannah and Reza can answer any questions - just ask!
