Coconut tree is a kind of palm tree with a single straight trunk and has been used for
many purposes since prehistoric times. Every part has a use, including the fruits,
wood, and leaves. Coconuts are exotic, edible fruits produced in coconut trees.
The fruit of a coconut tree contains water. When you break the hard shell to open the
fruit, it has mildly sweet water inside that is known for its extreme health benefits.
Coconut water from young and tender coconuts is sweeter and has the best flavor.
Coconuts also can be eaten raw or cooked and they are rich in vitamins, minerals,
and powerful antioxidants. Before you can eat the coconut, the white flesh of the fruit
needs to be separated from the outer hard shell using a coconut scraper or a spoon.
The white flesh of an old coconut can be grated and extracted to make coconut milk.
This milk can be used for cooking in curries, desserts and cakes. It makes the dishes
more creamy and delicious. Besides that, the shell of the coconut is useful to create
crafts.
The husks are useful too. They can be used as natural scrubbers to clean dinner
plates, cups, and other vessels and even the floor. Coconut husks are also used as
a craft material to create many beautiful things. For example, you can color it and
use it as hair for dolls. It can also be used to make strong ropes.
Lastly, the leaves of the coconut palms can be used to make fences as well as roofs

Question 4
Read the letter from Sho to Hani.
28 February 2016
Dear Hani,
How are you? I am fine here. I hope you are fine too. I received your letter
three days ago. I was very shocked to hear that your house has been robbed last
month. I was also very relieved to find out that you and your family was not at home
when that incident happened.
Next time, you should be very careful. Although you live in a village, robbery
can happen anywhere. Besides, the number of robberies is soaring day by day.
Therefore, I would like to share some home safety tips with you here.
Firstly, ensure that the gates, doors and windows are locked at all times. Open
gates, doors and windows are indeed an invitation to robberies. So, remember to lock
them before leaving the house. You can install a burglar alarm to further fortify your
home against robberies besides using padlocks and safety chain latch.
Next, keep your money and jewellery in the bank. You can be reassured that
your valuables are safer in the bank than at home. This is because they will not get
anything valuable from your house. You should make the surrounding of your house
brighter by switching on the lights at night. This will prevent the robbers or burglars
from breaking in your house.
Finally, inform your neighbours when you are going on a holiday. They will
keep an eye on your house. I advise you to give them the house keys to switch on the
lights at night and collect your letters in the letter box when you are not around. Thus,
robbers and burglars will not know that you are not around.
I hope that you will adhere to these tips to ensure that robbers will not break in
your house again. Take care and keep in touch.
Your friend,
Sho
