SGD Teachers Management System

SGDWeb is a system created by Tecnausa that can be used by teachers to store information in a
local server about timetables, grades, attendance, incidents and notes about the students, so
every parent, teacher and student can access this data online.
It is a tool made by teachers for teachers, aiming to make the managing tasks and paperwork
easier and faster, and to improve communication between teachers, parents and students.

The core component of the system is the SGD Software, which processes and administrates the
data stored by the teachers into the handheld terminals, PDAs or PCs.

Whenever a teacher stops using the terminals, these are introduced in their slots in the central
unit, which will transfer the data automatically into the main server located in the building,
and therefore into the whole Ethernet, including all the terminals, computers and PDAs
connected to it. Every day at a prearranged time, the data will be uploaded to the internet
server for the parents, teachers and students to have online access to the stored data through
a web interface.

At present (2011) this system is being used in 500 institutes and schools in Spain, the state
provides a budget to every school to be spent in school 2.0, and every school decides how to
spend that budget, some of them get the SGD system, some of them use other systems, and
they also spend the money on intelligent whiteboards, computers, etc.

Besides this budget, the Spanish government provides every student of 5th and 6th grade of
primary school with small laptops to be used in the school and even to be borrowed. There are
plans to increase to the first courses of secondary school, although due to the actual economic
crisis, the program may be delayed and even cancelled.
Central unit
Its function is to synchronize the data between the Personal Units
and the Software SGD. It also charges the Units batteries and it is
used as a base unit for the Personal Units.

UNIDAD PERSONAL V6

The V6 is a simple device that the teachers use for the

students control. Through it, the teachers can introduce
the attendance list, notes, grades, attitudes, etc.

UNIDAD PERSONAL V10

The V10 is more advanced (and expensive) than the V6,

it has touch screen and a more ample range of
applications.

It is also easier to use, and therefore, more practical and

user friendly.

PDA

The school can also pay a license for using the software
through PDA, allowing the teacher to use his own
personal device or Smartphone to carry out all the tasks
that can be done with the normal terminals.

These terminals can be used for:

Notes related to students

Attendance, absent students, delays, reprimands, participation in class. It also allows introducing
annotations and comments related to those incidents.

Maintenance notes
The notes can also be related to the classroom, furniture, technical equipment, etc.

Following up of homework and assignments

For both the assignments during the classes and the ones that have to be done at home.
Introducing grades and evaluations
The teacher will write during the term, the grades of exams, assignments, and final evaluations.

Tutors office hours, grades, absence justification

Messages
Sending and receiving messages among teachers, direction, administration, etc. through the
mailbox in the SGD web.

SGD software for PC

If the training center or school has computers available in every classroom, the teachers can use
them to introduce all the data directly in a PC version of the SGD software.

Through the SGD software installed in the PCs, the information arrives directly into the local
server, so the directors and teachers can access the data in real time.
The connection can be through cable or Wi-Fi.

SMS Service

Thanks to this service, the school can contact the parents instantly and inform them about
absenteeism and other issues, so they can react as they see fit.
The parents who want this service must pay an extra fee of 2 each term.
V10 Interface

This is a general view of the interface of the portable terminal V10, which is easier to handle than
the more limited V6.
Online access

Parents, teachers and students can access the data and communicate through the online platform
that SGD provides. There are different types of accounts for teachers, supervisors, pupils and
parents. Every user has its own password and privileges, so the data is password protected and
not available to anybody.
