Short Film Treatment

Working Title (this may change later):

Paranoia

Genres incorporated:

My genre for my opening sequence was a Crime Thriller. For my short film I would
like to focus on a different genre. I currently have the idea to create a social drama
about a girl with schizophrenia. However, I first need to conduct a questionnaire to
see if this idea will be understandable and work.

Primary Target Audience (age, gender, socio-economics,

psychographics):

As my protagonist is a female trying to cope with her mental illness this will attract
the sympathy of a female audience, as it will be more relatable and conventionally
are more attracted to emotive storylines. Although my short film has emotional
elements it also has a thriller/horror genre which could attract a male audience. My
target audience will be aged between 16 and 25 however, my film could appeal to a
larger group of 16 to 30 year olds.

My socio-economic groups will range from C1 to B. This is because my character will

be between the demographic region. It will also allow people to escape and watch
something that takes them away from their lives.

My psychographics will be explorers and reforms. This is because my film isnt going
to be mainstream and will focus on something that people dont really know a lot
about. This means that my film wont appeal to a mass audience however, as it has
horror elements it could attract more people and branch out.

Log Line (a snappy description of your story in 2-3 sentences. Like a

blurb):

My initial idea for my short film is following the life of a girl named Eve who has
schizophrenia. I plan to have one of her biggest fears 'a clown' following her around
constantly during day to day activities such as waking up, going to school or work,
going for a walk, (I'm not entirely sure what she will be doing, but I might spread
it out between a couple of days with her condition getting worse and worse) but no
one else can see this clown.

Profile of the main character (name, age, gender, any relevant back
story that influences their actions or attitudes in the present):

My first main character is called Eve. She is suffering from the mental illness
schizophrenia. She has always lived a happy life however, stress and emotions have
become too much over the years and ended up in her being diagnosed with
schizophrenia.

My second min character is a clown. He is representing the schizophrenia by

following Eve around and tormenting her. I dont know how this is going to work and
I may need to change this after the questionnaire.

Locations:

I plan to have Eve's life spread out across a number of days to see how damaging
schizophrenia can be however, I need to conduct my questionnaire to see where the
best locations would be, whether that is school, home, work etc.

Props/ Costumes needed:

Costumes and props are important and I plan to have the clown dressed in 3 main
colours: white, red and black. Eve will be dressed in either: school clothes, work
clothes or leisure clothes depending on the location.

Breakdown of Plot (think about how your story fits together and why
were watching these characters journeys):

Minute 1 Introducing Eve, showing her day, going shopping, etc.

Minute 2 First sighting of the clown, it keeps appearing throughout Eves day.

Minute 3 Next day and Eve sees the clown more and more.

Minute 4 Next day and Eve becomes increasingly stressed and paranoid.

Minute 5 Everything becomes too much and Eve cant cope.

I am not entirely sure about the exact breakdown of my film which is why I need to
conduct my questionnaire. So thins could alter slightly.
