Water hyacinths and pine cone ash are prevalent and commonly found in the Philippines.

Water
hyacinths are known to be the worst aquatic weed and aqua life killers. These invasive aquatic plants are
notorious for their fast growth and production. Baguio City is known for its numerous pine trees. Time
to time pine cones fall from the tree to the ground are left to decompose. Once a pine cone has fallen
from the tree, its botanical life is usually over.

Philippines is prone to irregular natural features or hazards that cause severe damage to structures, and
due to continuous growth of population in the Philippines, environmental and economic problems
arise.

The study will be conducted not to further harm the environment by to utilizing these available
resources as alternative of sustainable development. The study may exhibit the probability of a more
sustainable and effective additive in concrete mix regarding its tensile strength and compressive
strength, producing a more durable and cost saving material to be used in construction than the
standard materials at present.

The study might increase the competence and prestige of the civil engineering profession, since it is an
application of pure science and sustainable development. The study will enlighten the construction
industry that integrated resources can enhance the performance of conventional materials. The
research could encourage Engineers to utilize the innovation to provide a better quality of structural
works. The study could also spread awareness and additional knowledge to the community about the
advantages, benefits, and serviceability of resources thereof, which can be used to construct their
homes in an environmental and economic feature.
