Thinking Within the Text: (Summarize)

1. What did you learn in this book (Beginning, Middle, End) (even if you knew
the information before, still talk about it!)
2. What happened in this story?
3. What else happened?
4. Who were the main characters?
5. What happened at the end?

Thinking Beyond the Text:

Predict: Think about what might happen next
Infer: Think about what the writer means and has not explicitly stated.
Make connections: Connect the text to personal and world knowledge as well
as other texts.
Synthesize: Adjust present understanding to accommodate new knowledge.
