In connection with this, a study conducted by Pimentel and Quijada (2011) in their research on the
Frequency of Usage of UP Cebu freshmen on Facebook and a part of the study which tackled about the
effect of the famous social networking sites to UP Cebu students punctuality and academic
performance utilized 60 male and 60 female respondents and provided them with questionnaires. A
certain question asked the respondents if late-night use of Facebook has an effect on their
punctuality. The study was conducted over a sample of 120 (60 boys and 60 girls) college students.
Therefore, the researchers concluded that they have got the same number from each gender.

Similar to the study of Oghuvbu (2008), Prominent Excuses of Secondary Students in Nigeria
which used the data from the sample of 50 male and 50 female Nigerian respondents. The
means of collecting data was through a thirty-item questionnaire answerable by either strongly

Similar in the study conducted by Jumare ,Maina, and Ankoma-Sey (2015), they sought to examine which
categories of students have the highest score in late coming to school. The finding revealed that
freshmen students come to school late more than higher year students. The results show that 53.3
percent of the respondents were freshmen students who came to school late during the period of this
study. This also could be attributed to the above established reason for early-adolescent age bracket to
among the freshmen students. In addition the freshmen students could have the feeling that when they
come late to school, they may not be punished after all the perfects on duty are their friends, thus do
not fear anything.

the respondents are first born children or the eldest among their siblings. The study implicates that
elder brothers and sisters are effectively influential to their younger siblings which is supported by
Peretomode (2001) and Egbule (2004), when they elaborated the concept of nature-nature as it affects
an individuals habits. Moreover, it could be due to lack of parental supervision, domestic violence,
poverty, and differing attitudes toward education (U.S. Department of Justice, 2001).
