ABSTRACT

Finger print recognition is a method of biometric authentication that uses pattern-

recognition techniques based on high-resolution images of the finger of an
individual's hand.

Fingerprints as biometrics have already gained widespread acceptance all over the
world. Almost every law enforcement agency in the world utilizes fingerprints as
an accurate and effective means of identification. Primarily fingerprints have been
utilized as a method for verification. However now with law enforcement agencies
building up electronic fingerprint databases they have been very effective as an
identification tool too. Most fingerprint based biometric systems utilize either
minutiae of the friction ridges in the curves of the fingerprints or the global
appearance or both.
Considering the effectiveness of the use of finger print technology and
authentication requirements, we will do a thesis and simulations of finger print
recognition system. Here we will create a database of users performing enrollment
and later we will test the system with different inputs. If finger print matches, our
program will show the matches with corresponding finger id with distance zero.
For all other cases its displays a non zero value will indicate mismatches/access
denied conditions.
Our Program will be tested in MATLAB environment and will be evaluated in
laboratory conditions and by simulations, for giving very effective results
