DTI 12 rolled out the Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program in Region 12 in two areas:
South Cotabato (July 31), and Sultan Kudarat (August 1), attended by an estimated more than
1,200 attendees. The South Cotabato roll-out broke the record for the highest number of
attendees totaling 909. Meanwhile, the Sultan Kudarat launching was a joint roll-out together

with the Cotabato City, and North Cotabato province. The event was attended by micro and
small entrepreneurs (MSEs), aspiring entrepreneurs, local government officials, private
sector organizations, financing institutions, and DTI representatives.
Mentors from the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) were the resource
speakers, namely: Mr. Paulo Tibig, President and CEO of V Cargo Group, on Entrepreneurial
Mind-setting and Values Formation; and, Mr. Pedro Rufo Pocholo Soliven, President of
Soliventures Phils. Inc., on Marketing and Marketing Trends.
For Module 1, Mr. Tibig motivated the participants to pursue the path of
entrepreneurship. Tibig said, Dream without action is just a dream. Plan without action
remain to be a dream.
On Marketing and Marketing Trends, Mr. Soliven gave marketing and opportunity-
seeking tips and advice. He discussed about different topics, in particular: the 4Ps of
marketing; the House of Marketing; the three types of markets, namely: existing market,
resegmented market, new market; the Niche Marketing and Identification; Finding your
Market; Three Kinds of Entrepreneurs; and the Fundamentals of the QDP (Quality, Delivery,
Productivity) Model.
Giving marketing strategy advice, Soliven said, Define your target customer. Define
your category. Highlight what your product/service actually delivers. Determine your
competition, and determine what makes you different and better from your competitors.
Ms. Ethel Laksmi Gumana, Division Chief of the SME Development Division and
Negosyo Center R12 Program Coordinator, discussed about the three (3) major functions of
the Negosyo Centers, namely: Business Registration Assistance, Business Advisory, and
Business Information and Advocacy.
After the lectures, local entrepreneurs shared their inspiring stories. For the South
Cotabato roll-out, Mr. Ernesto B. Pantua of Kablon Food Farms Corp., Ms. Virginia B. Basan of
Danlag Womens Association, and Ms. Rona H. Ortiz of BKR Food Products shared how they
Ms. Julie Julve of the Tacurong Terminal Vendors Association (TATVA), Mr. Jendo
Kalbs Balagon Lara of Ryles Enteprises, and Ms. Elaine May Pacifico of GFA Marketing
shared how they manage to become successful in business during the KMME-SK Launching.
Ms. Julve shared how their association was able to establish their own grocery - the TATVA
Groceria Project - through the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE) and the Department of Trade and Industry through the Negosyo Center. Moreover,
Mr. Lara shared his inspiring story as a renowned mudcraft artist; Laras artworks have
gained widespread popularity due to its uniqueness and creativity. On the other hand, Ms.
