CONTACT POLICY
Students: You will receive my cell phone number on the first day of instruction. I am giving you this number in
case you have a question about an assignment that is due the following day. Text messages are also okay and I
love email from your Impact email address. When you call or text, please clearly state your name, the time
you’re calling, and the best way/time to reach you. If you do not leave your name or I cannot understand your
message, I will not return your call. Please do not call or send text messages after 10pm or before 7am.
GRADING
As in Lower Division, students will be graded holistically on an A, B, C, NC scale. The holistic grading rubric
includes the following categories:
• College Work Habits: display of behaviors and work habits appropriate to a collegeprep environment
including punctuality, preparedness & organization, cooperation, and focus & participation. (10%)
• Mastery of Knowledge: demonstrating mastery of learning of objectives (40%)
• Application of Knowledge: applying understanding to novel situations (50%)
Items will be placed in the grade category that most closely matches the task required and may frequently be
placed in more than one category. A student will receive an automatic NC grade if any major assignment or
assessment has not been completed by the end of the grading period. In general, understanding of content will
be weighted more heavily than students have experienced in lower division.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to arrive to class on time and prepared. During class students are expected to be on task
and in their assigned seat while respecting the classroom learning community. Students need to be responsible
for themselves. When these expectations are not met the following consequences will occur.
Step 1: Warning
Step 2: Detention after school
Step 3: Double Detention after school and phone call home
Step 4: Behavior Referral
Students are expected to come to class fully prepared; to put in 100% effort everyday; to follow established class
norms (regarding behavior appropriate to an 11th grade, collegeprep classroom); and, to ask for help [inside or
outside of class] when they begin to feel confused.
