COURSE OVERVIEW
The course focuses on the tasks of business people as they formulate and implement the
strategies that set the general direction of an organization and thus critically affect its
success. One task is developing an understanding of a companys current position and its
historical development. A second task is generating and evaluating strategic alternatives
and selecting from them. A third task is coordinating all the operational and functional
components of the organization, such as managing the classic tension between
marketing and production. We will use readings and cases, to enhance our understanding
of these managerial tasks. This course consists of two essential parts learning and
doing. The smaller learning part of the course involves extending your understanding of
critical decision making via readings and lectures. The doing part of the course involves
applying your knowledge to the analysis of cases, assignments and other experiential
exercises.

GROUP PRESENTATIONS

group will be assigned a strategic management case and will be required to make a
presentation. Presentations will start in the 11 th or 12th week (the exact date will be
discussed later on). It is expected from students to use some visual presentation tools.
After the presentation, a feedback report will be distributed to the groups. There will be
some comments about the presentations. I will grade the presentation via the numbers
