Where Are The New Rappers & Hispanic Rappers?

Besides having Drake, one of the biggest flaws with the Def Jam Rapstar track list is the lack of new
rappers like B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray, Travie McCoy, Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Kid Cudi, Wale, and, yes, I’ll
dare say it Soulja Boy, who’s “Crank Dat” was a #1 Hot 100 single for seven weeks in a row. Young
people, who initially will be targeted to buy Def Jam Rapstar, will want on DJR rappers that have sold
the vast majority of iTunes’s Hip-Hop digital singles. It is inexcusable that B.o.B. and Hayley William’s
“Airplane” and Travie McCoy and Bruno Marks’s “Billionaire” were not initially featured on Def Jam
Rapstar. Any credible music insiders could have projected that those two songs alone would be mega
summer hits in 2010 or at least you add “Nothin’ on You” and have two B.o.B and Bruno Marks songs
on the game. And I am no Soulja Boy fan, but I know that there will be millions of gamers wanting to
do the “Superman” dance while rapping “Crank Dat”. At its height of popularity the “Crank Dat” music
video is the most watched online video with over 722 million views and it spawned thousands of viral
video imitators. Knowing those facts about Soulja Boy there is no credible reason to wait until the last
minute to say he is on DJR or not. Young people need to be able to rap-along with artists their age.
And for the life of me why would you tell Hispanics, who are the fastest growing minority population in
America, that they should be happy with Big Pun’s “Still Not a Player” and Fat Joe doing a few verses
in DJ Khaled’s “We Takin’ Over”. It is a huge mistake that 4mm Games did not use some of Fat Joe’s
many popular Hip-Hop hits or Grammy nominated collabo hits. Or have some bilingual rappers like
Mellow Man Ace or Pitbull would give millions of Hispanic gamers extra motivation to go buy Def Jam
Rapstar. And Daddy Yankee has mainly Spanish only reggaeton hits, but it would be fun to rap them
in Spanish without English translations. Def Jam Rapstar could even help many people or kids learn
Spanish. Anyway, I will do my best to give my wish list of additional rappers that should have a song
right now featured on Def Jam Rapstar or be clearly promoted as available downloadable content.
