Countries in all over the world have adapted to economics, transportation, and education, but,
what happens with Latin America? Ecuador, a South American country has not grown in
sciences like physics, mathematics, and chemistry. This country needs a real change in its
Science production is important in all over the world. Countries like the United States,
Germany, Japan, and China are aware of this and they have been working on the problem for
many years. American students have the opportunity to get into the best universities for science,
engineering, and technology, such as the California Institute of Technology or UC Berkeley, the
other countries also have excellent universities for many majors in the STEM category, and they
have reached big developments such Caltech working with NASA and others. They got
everything because they know progress is achieved with education. Education is the most
powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. (Nelson Mandela).
Ecuador has really good universities. An example of this is San Francisco University and
the University of Cuenca. These two universities have prizes for excellence. The University of
Cuenca won the Matilde Hidalgo prize for the best campus and law faculty in the country. But
are the Ecuadorian universities working on science production? The answer is no, because, the
best colleges dont have majors in the field. If a student wants to study physics or mathematics,
he or she will have to travel to another city or country to get that education and whether this
person returns to the country and he or she will be not able to find a wide variety of jobs. At least
Ecuador has two universities with physics and mathematics majors, The National Polytechnic
School and San Francisco University, both of them have good agreements with International
laboratories and important colleges like Freie University of Berlin and important laboratories
such as CERN, which is the most important place for studying the physics of the smallest things
in the universe, and they have gotten good chances for the future scientist and engineers in there.
For example, San Francisco University sent two students to get into the research of the new
Higgs boson, a transcendental discovery in the field of physics. A country needs these people
because they work and solve the social problems like transportation. If a city has a lot of traffic it
Why does a country need to have scientists? Because Science is important for a better
community and a better economic growth. As we can see in the global world history, the
industrial revolution played a great role in the development of many countries. Scientific
advances like the train, steamboat, roads brought the better life and a good way to get more
products from different parts of the world in less time. That was a transcendental fact about the
world history. Also, the scientific research has a good price for the world. Many of the
advantages can be used for others, it is important to get the best way to expand the new
knowledge scientists have gotten in their works. A good choice to do this is to send the paper or
thesis to a very important magazine in the field, we can find many of them such as Science, and
Latin America has also many acclaimed magazines like Alea, which is written and edited in
Brazil, there is Revista Brasileira de Ciencia do Solo: Brazilian Society for Soil Science. A
scientist is able to work in many areas of knowledge. A physicist is able to work in medicine
when a person got cancer, they worked with radiological protection that is about the dose a
person need of therapy. Physicists have done a real good work on this field because they have
one of the firsts priorities of people because it will give an economic growth and a better place
for the human being, everywhere we are. Countries can achieve better medicine, better cities and
more with all the discoveries of Science. That is why people should be aware of the necessity of
