SomeNotes
Becausethreephasesystemsaredesignedtohandlelargeblocks
ofelectricpower,allvoltageandcurrentspecificationsaregiven
asrmsvalues.
Whenvoltageratingsaregiven,theyreferspecificallytotherating
ofthelinevoltage.Thuswhenathreephasetransmissionlineis
ratedat345 kV,thenominalvalueofthermslinetolinevoltage
is345,000 V.
Inthischapterweexpressallvoltagesandcurrentsasrmsvalues.
Finally,theGreekletterphi()iswidelyusedintheliteratureto
denoteaperphasequantity.ThusV , I , Z , P andQ are
interpretedasvoltage/phase,current/phase,impedance/phase,
power/phase,andreactivepower/phase,respectively.
