Dear Kikokushijo Academy,

Please accept this letter of consideration for the position of ESL Instructor at Kikokushijo Academy.
A fellow graduate of Western Washington University and current instructor at Kikokushijo
recommended your school as a place of outstanding language education, and I believe that I could
effectively instruct your schools diverse group of students.

My passion for working with ESL students began in my time at university where I worked as an
International Peer Advisor with the Asia University America Program (AUAP). This was an English
language program for Japanese exchange students. I frequently volunteered in my students classes
and helped in their language acquisition inside as well as outside of the classroom. I quickly learned
that this was my passion and further involved myself in the International Exchange Program (IEP) at
my university that hosts students from all over the world. Through my completion of the TESOL
program at Western, I was able to work in the classrooms of these two programs, applying what I
was learning right away with English language learners.

A strength that I developed was creating lessons with real world applications for students. My goal as
a teacher at your school would be to not only equip students with the reading and writing skills
necessary to score high on their school exams, but also with the functional language necessary to
carry on a conversation outside of the classroom when traveling or in a business meeting for
example. My time as a Japanese language student studying abroad in Japan has taught me that both
are equally important and rewarding.

My diverse experiences have connected me to people of all backgrounds, and I wish to help Japanese
students gain the language skills necessary to connect with new cultures and succeed in their goals.
I am confident that as an ESL teacher at Kikokushijo Academy I could reach students with my
passion for language and, through creative and dedicated instruction, help them achieve their goals.

Thank you for reviewing my application. You may call me anytime at 1-(651) 307-3324 or e-mail me
at meghan.r.mcnamara@gmail.com. I look forward to discussing with you in person my potential
contributions to Kikokushijo Academy.

Sincerely,

Meghan McNamara
