22nd, here at Peace Church.

Mens Breakfast will be starting on Thursday, November 30th at 6:30am.

Sunday, November 5th Spark Bible Storybooks will be presented to our Preschool and

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Lutheran World Relief Kits and t0 Wendy
Steffen for deliviering them to Osakis. We are done collecting until after Easter.
Peace Church Council Meeting Minutes September 13 th, 2017
Present: Lois Scherer, Jim Johnson, Marilyn Frykman, Tom Gardner, Gaylene Hanson, Lexi Danner, Charles Johnson, Joyce Hanson,
Pastor Evenson, Sandy Kashmark, Treasurer Visitor: Youth Director, Heather Danner.
Meeting called to order by Chairman Tom at 6:10 p.m. Additional agenda items placed under new business by Joyce.
Devotions: Commentary and discussion from the devotional book, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young was presented by Pastor Sarah. This
devotional addressed how we as followers are often quick to judge others. Council sharing and discussion continued regarding Pastors
comments.
Printed administrative reports available for all council members:
Motion to accept the printed secretarys report made by Gaylene, with a second by Lexi, report accepted.
Motion to approve the August financial transaction list made by Marilyn with a second by Lois, MC. Transaction list accepted.
Motion to accept the balance of the financial data made by Jim Johnson, with a second by Joyce, treasurers reports accepted.
Pastors report: Visitations and shut in communion have been given. Pastor has been working with Joyce, Heather and Lexi on the
final plans for September 23rd community event sponsored by the youth. Pastor will have a planned vacation day on October
22nd. Pastor Arnquist will lead worship. She will be continuing with the Ten Commandments sermon series and working on
pending fall worship plans. Pastor Sarah will work with Admin Sandy, and Tom to coordinate a connection to potential new
member families.
Old Business
Back to the Fifties Dance and Community Gathering: Reports given by committee. Silent Auction items are needed. The council
was encouraged to spread the word to all regarding auction donations. Joyce is the contact person for this part of the event.
Release time: Youth Director, Heather, has been in contact with WCA principal to coordinate schedules. Tentative start date will be
October 4th over the noon lunch hour. Heather expressed a desire for a longer time with the students but also recognizing the
primary barrier is school schedule coordination. Church bus and driver will be used. Chairman Tom will contact the Peace
driver, Mike Woods regarding potential schedule and review the current job description with him. Heather will keep Pastor and
council updated.
Sunday school: Joyce gave a brief summary of the first Sunday classes on 9/10/2017. The parent letter which was sent to Sunday
school families is on file with these minutes. Volunteer teachers are in place. Joyce has been planning for field trips for the stu-
dents with the first outing to Betty DeClercqs for a visit with a Potter.
August 20th outdoor service feedback: Attendance was down but cool weather was noted also. General consensus was to schedule
this event again for 2018 in either August or September.
Church Directory: thirty four families participated. Pictures of the active group ministries are encouraged. Chairman Tom will dis-
cuss with directory liaison, Brenda Long and will offer help if she needs it to communicate and coordinate with church families.
New Business:
Pastor Sarahs residence: The Moe Parsonage building has recently been returned back to the Moe parish. After a Moe parish vote
in October, Pastor maybe residing there. All three church councils will be meeting on September 25 th at 7 p.m. to determine
potential edits re: housing allowance.
Bus Use: Council member, Joyce has been approached by WCA Dean of Students and AD, Jacob Foslien, for the use of our church
bus for a Homecoming Event planned for WCA Schools on September 30th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The consensus of the coun-
cil is to decline this request due to liability issues. Mr. Foslien has also requested the use of our parking lot for the same time
frame on September 30th. This request was approved pending any scheduled church function requiring the parking lot; it then
would not be available.
Peace Church family is invited to a hayride after the West Moe 9:45 a.m. worship service and pot luck on September 24 th.
Youth Director, Heather, is planning an October Youth activity. The cost of the field trip is $28.25 per student. Cost sharing will be
offered for the students. $18.25 per student will be drawn from the Thrivent funds, and each student will be responsible for
$10.00 of the cost.
Motion to adjourn meeting made by Joyce, with a second by Gaylene. MC
