(INTRODUCTION)
We students are studying hard tofinish our chosen course, and of course we want to finish our
study to have a good job in the future. This where SIT program comes in to give us preview on what will
our future job would be like. SIT is a training that help us students to gain experience in terms of
knowledge and skills from our chosen industrial company. This training will last a few months that really
gives you the feeling of being a employee. Being able to know the environment in the company and
knowing to interact with your Co workers will mold your attitude and your behavior that is needed on
a job. SIT will mold you overall to be a person who is 100% job ready.
I took my SIT on Lead Core Technology System incorporated (LCTSI). The main product of this
company are batteries like stand by batteries, motive power batteries, deep cycle batteries, automotive
batteries and solar batteries. These batteries have there help in different aspects. Stand by batteries
may be for back up on systems, like in substations their system should have backup batteries,so when a
sudden accident happen on the system, there will be no shutdown happening because there are stand
by batteries to continuously supply the system. In addition the brands of these batteries are Ritar that is
from China, Bae that is from Germany and Exide which is from US. Lead Core also gives great services for
clients satisfaction. There services includes installation and Commissioning, testing, maintenance and
fabrication. The company is not that big yet but rapidly its growing, gaining many projects because of its
reliable products and good services. Some of Companys projects are Globe Advanednet, Meralco
installation and NGCP.
As an OJT in the company I started in office works like arranging documents, encoding,
computing, printing and calling clients. Encoding I think was the most helpful office work that I
experienced in the company because I was able to familiarized myself in MS Word and Excel. And
encoding in the companys office made me feel that when I would be doing office jobs in my future job it
will be just easy for me and not be new to it. Encoding may be simple as it look but office works are very
important in a company. I encode different files for the company like schedule of the company, list of
clients, results of testing, and etc. In calls in the office we are tasked to call clients if they would like to
buy our companys products, if they are in need of batteries. When we call them we should convinced
them to buy our products by saying the companys profile, applications of our batteries and its
advantages. Some of the clients have decided to purchase our products and some will call back if they
will be needing one. But some are just to convinced and just dont want to by our products. Its a big
help for us because we are able to enhance my interaction with other people. It also boost my
confidence in expressing my thoughts.
I also worked on the companys warehouse which was much tougher than the office works. In
there all are working and focused on their work. We helped in different tasks there to make the task of
the employees much easier. The hardest task that I encountered in the warehouse is the carrying of
batteries. Batteries there were very heavy some was like 30 kilos, 40 kilos and greater. We carry
batteries almost everyday. We carry batteries to be ready for delivery. We carry batteries to maximize
the space of the warehouse. We carry batteries to to be tested. We carry batteries for charging and
discharging. Its a tough task but its getting us ready for industrial jobs. Carrying batteries also gibes us
the benefit to be physically fit. Other task I te warehouse is testing the batteries. We test batteries if its
in good condition. We test the voltage, ampere and resistance for overall state of health of bateries.
Before delivery or the battery to be installed we first test if its in good condition if the battery has the
indicated voltage and if it could give the needed ampere it could generate. The battery testing were easy
because of the reliable testers that the company have. Like the Hioki internal resistance tester that test
the resistance and voltage of the battery. Its easy to use because the values that it gets is atomically
saved so you can see the values of all the batteries you tested. We also disharge and charge batteries
before delivery to make sure that it could generate current in a specific time range. There is a specific
charging area in the warehouse where we put the batteries. Battery charger which has a rectifier is use
to charge battery strings and Dummy load is use for discharging the batteries. In charging and in
discharging we connect the batteries in series then in parallel to the charger or the dummy load.
Charging may last 5 hours depending on the batteries capacity while discharging last 10 hours. We also
helped in fabrication in the warehouse. We helped in building cases for traction batteries and filling the
batteries with battery solutions. In fabrication we helped in welding, cutting, measuring and painting the
steel cover of the traction batteries. In all these tasks in the warehouse we were guided by the
engineers and operations team.
As my training continues my jobs got bigger and more exciting. Because as projects comes in
services must go along. We are lucky that weve been given a chance to be part of these services. Its a
privilege to work with professionals. I may not do some job as good as they do, but they will give you
their trust and let you do jobs that they think would help you to learn new knowledge and skills. Sir
Russel is the head of the Engineering department and operations. He is the one who was choosing
employees who will be installing or testing etc. on specific sites. He trusted us and let us go on sites with
the employees so we will be not just stay in the companys warehouse and office. Sir Russel deployed us
OJTs on most of the companys projects like in Globe Advancednet and Meralco. In Meralco installation.
In Meralco installation we install in substations in different places in the Philippines. My first installation
in Meralco was at Los Banos Laguna its far from our company. Inside the substation employees and
visitors must have a complete PPE to be safe and to avoid accidents. We first remove the old batteries
inside the battery room. We also disassembled the battery rack and put it outside the room then we
assembled the new battery rack. Then of course we carried and put the new batteries (60 pieces)on the
new rack. Then the batteries will be connected in series and in parallel to the system. Then we test the
resistance the voltage and current of all the batteries. But we will also test the batteries every hour for
10 hours. Los Banos was just one of my four Meralco substations weve installed. We have installed in
Cainta Rizal, Ermita Manila, and in Silang Cavite. I had great experiences on each sites. In Globe
installation was a little less task because we will just be installing 2-6 batteries (Wolong). But the hard
part was finding the Globe sites because we dont have the exact address of the sites. So we asked to
many people of they know the site. We will ask and ask them questions until we find it. When we got
into the site we should waste no time because theres another site that is needing a battery installation.
The cabinet of the globe is just small and its placed anywhere it could be placed beside churh, houses,
basketball court, buildings, and even rice fields. The procedure of installing is easy you put in the 2
wolong batteries then connect it to the rectifier but make sure you turn off the battery breaker. The old
batteries should be delivered to the Globe hub. Then in installing we should always not to forget to tale
pictures on the procedures in installing the battery and the values that appeared in testing the batteries.
This is for the requirement of Globe because theres no Globe supervisor who was supervising our work.
Globe installation was very time consuming because there our sites which was far and we cant find the
site easily. For example my installation in Bataan it was a long travel to get there and also the site was
hard to find. So it caused us to be back in the warehouse late in the evening. But its fine because you will
learn and yu should have to deal with the time.
In addition to our jobs in the company. We also deployed to deliver batteries in different places
in the Philippines. Examples of places where we delivered were at Philippine Airlines, Pampangga,
Cavite,Laguna, Emerson, Global payments, and many more. Surely in delivery will develop your physical
strength because the heavy batteries you were carrying. Another additional job or a bonus job as I call it
when the company was needing the help of OJTs in playing. Yes it was playing because there was a
tournament in bowling held in Makati for the Companies in SPECS. It was really a fun job even if we lose
we are very glad that we were given the opportunity to represent the company in that tournament.
To be more specific on the jobs and tasks that we did in the company we chose. These is a
simple journal about my job each day in the company:
Its my first day of OJT in Lead Core. Im a little nervous because of being new in the company. I felt that
there are strict employees that will easily get mad at us if we did not do our work properly. My
expectations were all wrong because they are all kind and friendly. That make us comfortable. Maam
Cha gave me a task, to encode inquiries of companies. I finished 6:00 pm because it really takes a lot of
time. But overall its a great start for me.
Its a sunny Saturday, my second day in the company. Its only a half day for us and its a special day for
one of the employees of the company, maam Maricel because she graduated from her course (CPA).
We introduce ourselves to her and sang to her. We have a free lunch that day because of the
celebration. All the employees was just very happy and proud on that day.
This day we went to the warehouse in Visayas to help sir Larry in installing CCTVs. its only my first time
to install CCTV cameras so it makes me more excited. We climb,
insert wires, do connections and drill holes. Its tiring but it was fun, we installed 5 CCTV cameras.
This day is a less task because we just helped maam Cha in encoding for the schedules of the company.
But its time wasting because its too many.
Its a day where we burn CDs that will serve as give a ways of Lead Core for an event. I also helped
maam Hazel to organize the receipts. We also answered calls because some of the employees are not
around. Experiencing office works are very helpful on our future jobs someday.
A great day where we helped Maam Krisma, maam Edith, and maam Loth in packing school supplies to
be given to the students in need in selected rural areas in the Philippines. Its a great feeling to be part
of this activity because in our own little ways we helped others.
A day were we went again in Global Payments to install another 80 batteries (S12V300) for backup. We
finished easily the first battery cabinet because all of us is working. We take a break before installing
another 40 batteries. After our break sir Aris start already then suddenly we heard an explosion. I was
shocked that time and when I looked at sir Aris I saw his hands burned due to high voltage. I was
nervous that time because I did not expect that to happen. Its an accident and theres no one to blame
for it. We continue installing the remaining batteries despite of what happen. We do the connections of
the batteries (series-parllel) to get the job done. After that we immediately went to the hospital to fetch
sir Aris.
May 31, 2016 (Tuesday)
We went to the warehouse on this day because we need to find a document which is very important to
sir Russel. We also help in relocating some RL2-350 batteries. Sadly we didnt found the document of sir
Russel, we felt sorry for it.
On this wonderful day we went to the warehouse to pack the bags for team Jon and team Lim for Bag-
a-Thon in Quezon province. After packing I count the remaining school supplies for inventory.
Its another day of packing bags for some students in Bulacan. We finished late this time because the
number of bags and sometimes there are some confusions on inventory.
This day we are on a mission on finding again the lost FedEx of Sir Russel. Because one of us touched it
when were packing the bags and it was caught on CCTV. We start searching when we got there. We
searched every area of the warehouse but theres no FedEx found.
I have no schedule on the field this day so Im just in the office. I helped maam Toni in encoding battery
voltage in 5 sites. It take me hours to finish it.
This is a exciting day for me because we will install 60 350 AH batteries in Meralco Los Banos. Im with
our team leader Engr. Philip. When we got there I became more excited because the meralco substation
there is large compare to others. We wear our complete PPE for safety and begun bringing down the
batteries from the truck. We start constructing the battery rack and unpack the 60 batteries then put it
in inside the battery room. Before installing the batteries, we first dismantle flooded type batteries.
Then remove the old battery rack to start the connection of the batteries in series. Our leaders do the
tapping and the discharging of the batteries using the dummy load. After that its time for the load
testing which is 10 hours. Every hour we will test the voltage, ampere rating and the conductance of the
batteries. Its a tiring day, we got home 5:30 pm the next day.
June 8, 2016 (Wednesday)
Another exciting day for us because we will go to SMX Convention Center in Pasay for Lead Cores
battery exhibit. We introduce our products to the visitors and gave them calling cards, brochures and
souvenirs. When there are questions that is very technical we are just calling sir Mark to answer it
because he is the sales engineer. Its a great experience because we learned more about the companys
profile and products. It also boost my confidence when we are talking to clients.
This day is quite disappointing for me because I injured my fingers yesterday when carrying the walls for
our exhibit at SMX convention center. So Im in need to have an x-ray, maam Dane brought me to the
hospital. This accident gave me a lesson to be more careful.
We went to the warehouse at Visayas with maam Hazel to pack school supplies for the students in
Bulacan. We finished around 10:30 pm because of the number of bags and in the inventory of items.
Im scheduled today in Meralco Cainta substation for installation of Ritar batteries (60 pieces). We
assemble the rack , dismatle the old batteries, carry it outside then put the new one. Then the load
testing which is 10 hours. But we dont finish the load test because sir Russell told us to get back early.
We ride on the companys service.
Im in the office arranging documents for leave and absence of employees. Its a helpful experience to
be used to office works.
Scheduled again to Meralco, but today its on Ermita Manila. We installed 60 Ritar batteries 250 AH with
sir Philip and sir Aris. We finished early because we work together and organized. We dont wait the
load test to be finished because we are not required to stay there for 10 hours.
This day we are now required to go directly to the warehouse at Visayas because the engineering
department is there. We help the employees there like carrying batteries and in cleaning.
June 18, 2016 (Saturday)
We are just in the warehouse helping in carrying batteries and put sprinter battery on the charging area
for it to be charge.
A wonderful day we are in the warehouse helping the employees in opening the newly delivered wolong
batteries for checking. This is for the upcoming Globe Advancednet phase 1 installation.
Another day at the warehouse. Today we fix the boxes of Wolong batteries and arrange it outside the
warehouse to be recycled.
Today Im in the office helping maam Toni in encoding and arranging the pictures from Globe
installation. In arranging the pictures it must be accurate to the field reports.
I have no schedule for Globe and Meralco today so Im just I the warehouse carrying batteries for
delivery and installation. We also charge batteries SL2-300 connected in series- parallel.
Today is an exciting day because we are scheduled to have an safety orientation at AMCOR. We learned
a lot there and its very useful for are future jobs. We need this orientation to be allowed to install
batteries there. When we got back to the office we saw maam Toni encoding late in the evening so we
decided to help her finish her works.
Its an surprising day because maam Cha and maam Hazel invites us to go with them at Makati Square.
I have no idea on what will we do there. But as we go along I saw a bowling area and read a tarpaulin
SPECS ANNUAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT. I was shocked I the fact that we will be playing bowling
with other companies. We played 4 games, it was tiring but fun. In this tournament we built good
relationship with others and sportsmanship.
This day we helped Sir Russel mapping different sites for globe installation in NCR, Southluzon,
Northluzon, Visayas and Mindanao. This is for the teams for Globe instalation phase 2 to find the site
easily.
Today we went to 88 sales office because maam Cha needed our help. She told us to call clients if they
would like to purchase batteries. We need to sales talk with the clients for them to buy our products. I
told the employees about our product and its application. But sometimes they just give their email for
us to send proposals and company profile.
Today we continue calling clients and we are now getting used to it.
Today we are about to finish the calls. There is only 2 folders of clients remaining to be called.
Today Im just half day because my stomachaches so bad. I went home after lunch.
Im in the office helping maam Toni encoding pictures and field reports for Globe Advancednet.
This day Im in the warehouse helping in charging batteries (Ritar) and helping maam Toni encoding for
Globe Advancednet.
July 7, 2016 (Thursday)
We went to A3 at 88 to help maam Krissma in packing school supplies and snacks for the students of
Zambales. We also do the inventory on the left items after packing.
We have no schedule for today so we just help the employees in the warehouse in their works. Sir
Rayman this day gave us a little discussion about electrical topics like Power system. He also told us
about what topics comes out in board exams.
A day where we are asked to open wolong batteries for Globe Advancednet installation. We also helped
sir Ronald to charge Sprinter backup batteries which is connected in series- parallel. Also today is Boss
Jims birthday so everyone is having a good time.
We arranged Wolong batteries for each teams that will be installing. We also clean the warehouse.
A tiring day because we carried 60 blks of batteries (Ritar batteries) to be charge for Meralco
installation. We connected it in series parallel. Then sir Dale told us to open Wolong batteries again.
We open wolong batteries for Globe Advancednet. Then sir Ronald told me and Chester to go with him
to deliver 5 gallons of battery solution for traction batteries.
We are in the warehouse opening globe battery boxes. Sir Rudy share his experiences to us, he told us
experience is very important in getting a great job.
Today we adjust the batteries to maximize the space of the warehouse. Then we put boxes of the
batteries at the top of the rack in the warehouse. Then in the afternoon we play basketball with the
employees. We lose to them but we had a great time playing with them.
I helped maam Toni in encoding for Globe Advancednet. There is a new format for the reports so Im a
little confused. But I got used to it later on.
Today we carry 80 pcs of SL2 300 Ritar batteries to be dalivered at MOA. Then go back in encoding and
arranging the pictures for Globe Advancednet. I go overtime because the deadlin is getting closer.
I continued helping maam Toni in encoding reports for Globe Advancednet. I go overtime again
because new pictures arrived from teams that installed. And its should be encoded real quick.
Its a exciting day because is Bag-a-Thon day where we will be giving school supplies to the children in
Zambales. When we got to Zambales, we walked along mountains just to get to the school where well
be giving the supplies. It was a rough road but when we got there and saw the smiles of the kids, it was
just priceless. It was very a great experience to help others and see how they treasure education.
Today I was scheduled to insatall Wolong batteries in Bataan for Globe Advancednet. Im with our team
leader sir Philip. We finished late because the key of the cabinet is not operating. It was a great
experience to work in far places.

We stayed at the warehouse and help Sir Ronald to charge Ritar batteries. We also moved batteries to
maximize the space of the warehouse.
Today we were called by Maam Ormina to help her carrying the things that will be sold on their
upcoming garage sale. We put the things to the school of Cheska (maam Orminas daughter)at
Kamuning. Then we sort the things to be sold with the help of the parents there. We enjoyed staying
there because the kids there are very cute and they are speaking in Englishwe After sorting we put the
things inside the boxes then carry it to the storage room of the school. It was fun staying there, in fact I
saw a child artist there which is Sia. After that Maam treat us merienda which is very delicious.
Early in the morning we carried 80 Ritar batteries and then put it inside Bravado, Santino and Precious.
Then in the afternoon we charge Ritar batteries for UPS.
Today we put Ritar batteries inside their boxes. Then we help Sir Gilbert arranging and cleaning the
charging area. We remove the things that is not longer needed and stretch filmed the batteries that was
stuck there. We put the things that will be disposed to Lorenzo.
Of course in my SIT there should be experiences earned. First the knowledge that I learned in
school and I was able to apply in my job. Those were the terms about electrical that our professors in
TUP taught us. For example the terms resistance, current , and the voltage these are common terms
that were also used in batteries. In installing batteries, testing will be always there so when the
companys engineer told us to test the current for example we will do it quickly because we know what
is current and we know what tester should be used to get the current. Another knowledge I applied on
my SIT was the Ohms law which states that the current through a conductor between two points is
directly proportional to the voltage across the two points. Introducing the constant of proportionality,
the resistance one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship I= V/R. I
applied this knowledge when we are getting the impedance of batteriesso by having knowledge about
the Ohms law made our task easy. Another knowledge that I was able to apply on my work was
theanatomy of batteries. In the anatomy of batteries there are two electrodes in every battery. Both are
made of conductive materials, but they serve different roles. One electrode, known as the cathode,
connects to the positive end of the battery and is where the electrical current leaves (or electrons enter)
the battery during discharge, which is when the battery is being used to power something. The other
electrode, known as the anode, connects to the negative end of the battery and is where the electrical
current enters (or electrons leave) the battery during discharge.
Between these electrodes, as well as inside them, is the electrolyte. This is a liquid or gel-like substance
that contains electrically charged particles, or ions. The ions combine with the materials that make up
the electrodes, producing chemical reactions that allow a battery to generate an electric current.
I was able to apply this knowledge in my workbecause if you know how the battery works inside of it,
how the cells are connected to produce a specified current. You will understand the process of the
battery inside when it is discharged or charged. And speaking of charging my knowledge about rectifiers
help me understand how it could charge batteries.A rectifier is an electrical device
that converts alternating current (AC), which periodically reverses direction, to direct current (DC),
which flows in only one direction.
B. SKILLS
In terms of skills Ive learned in school theres a lot that Ive used. First was my wiring skills, Ive
used this skill in installing CCTV cameras, and adding lamps in the warehouse. Also in connecting the
batteries I was able to apply my wiring skills to connect it in series parallel. Another skills Ive applied
was my skills in using hand tools and electrical testers. It made my tasks easy because theres no need
for the employees to taught me. I applied this skill in battery testing charging and discharging batteries.
I also learned new skills in my training. One of these are the skills in using new testers like Hioki
internal resistance tester, Alber cellcorder, and dummy load. These skills helped me when we our on site
and theres a quick testing needed. This skills will also help me in my future job. Another skill that Ive
learned was on how to charge and discharge batteries. In charging the batteries should be in series and
parallel to the charger. In charging it took almost 5 hours to charge the batteries. And in discharging
dummy load is usedand it took almost 10 hours to discharge a batteries. The batteries should be in
series parallel. The important skill that Ive learned was the skill in installing batteries. Installing batteries
was not easy because in some site they were needing many batteries. The batteries will be connected in
series and parallel to the system. The connections should be precise and the batteries should be tested
not just once. Sometimes installing and testing batteries was requiring a day to be finished. Like in
Meralco substations after installing 60 blks of batteries the batteries should be tested every hour for 10
hours. This installing skills will also help me in my future job and in my studies. Also in my training I
developed my communication skills because in our company sometimes we talk to clients either
through phone or in person. We transact with them to buy are products or discussed on what we could
offer to them. For example our exhibit in SMX convention center we talk to clients about our products
and its advantages to convince them to buy our products.
C. Values
I also applied/learned values in my SIT which is very important in a work. Being obedient is very
important to a work so I applied this value to be efficient in the company and be a good trainee.
Another was accuracy because in our work you should be accurate in installing batteries to not messed
up the operation. And accuracy is important to have a good reputation in the company. Activeness was
another value that I applied because being active is being effective on my job.I also applied
determination because being determined on tasks will make it easy to finish no matter how many it is.
I also applied discipline to be to do whatever task was given to me and finish my hours
successfully. I also applied responsibility because being responsible is being effective and reliable on
work. Lastly I applied friendship because being friendly made more comfortable to work with other
employees.
D. HUMAN RELATIONSHIP
Human relationship between employees is very important in a work. And in our company I
observed great human relationship. One of this was being kind to other employees because it builds a
strong relationship and partnership in work. I also observed to the employees that whether theres a
team who finished the work successfully they give praise and acknowledges to them.I also observed that
to build a strong relationship with others there should be acceptance and forgiveness to each other.
V. SUGGESTIONS / RECOMMENDATIONS
I think my SIT was successful and our SIT coordinator really did a good job in making our SIT in
order and well organized. The posts in fb and text messages really help us on what to do and really
made us aware on the announcements. I suggest that they will continue the good work and make the
next SIT trainees a successful and memorable OJT, thank you very much.
