Observation Task 4
Choose, justify and reflect on the selection of appropriate routines and explain practical aspects of
their implementation.
Reflect on how routines can impact classroom environment (pacing, preventive CRM,
student engagement)
Choose and justify the selection of appropriate routines (entering/leaving the class,
transitions, submitting work, resource distribution) in a range of contexts (ages, gender,
class size, school context, class dynamics, parental support)
Explain practical aspects of implementation (clear instructions consistency)
TASK DESCRIPTION
The task is made up of two activities:
Activity 1: Observing Classroom Routines and Procedures
Activity 2: Planning for/Developing Routines and
Procedures
Though there are many routines and procedures all over the school such as returning from assembly
or walking in the hallways, this task focuses on what happens inside of your classroom only.
During the first week of your teaching practice observe your MST and her/his classroom. Make a note
of five (5) routines that you see her/him use every day inside of the classroom. Fill in the table below
to describe EACH routine; when and where it is used; and what is the aim of the routine or the
student behavior that it hopes to achieve.

These five routines are so effective with the students and to manage the time, because the students they are learning a lot
from these routines. For example, when the students enter the class they should register their name before they do anything
and that teach them the responsibility, and when they teacher change the color and the theme after every two weeks that help
the students to remember the new words that they learn and to develop their knowledge. Also, when the teacher uses a video
or some movement song that help the students to improve their fine and gross motors in fun educational way. The thing that
improves the students learning is when the teacher repeats such as the month, date, day, or choose some time to revise with
students, and that helps the teacher to know the level of each student and to help the students to remember when she repeats.

Lesson objectives
Main activities in the lesson
Grouping of students during each main activity
Behavior expected during each activity (e.g. sharing resources; changing stations;
presenting)
Where are the transitions in the lesson? What are they: (e.g. moving from plenary to
group work between main activity one and main activity two)
The three best practices that I observed on the privet and government school, that they
have useful centers that help the teacher while she teaches her lesson with fun educational
way. Also, its help the students to have an enjoyable time when they learn any concept
and when they do the activities they think that they are playing but they learn at the same
time. In my opinion, should be in each classroom different centers to manage the whole
class and they are a kid the class should be colorful and beautiful for them to let them feel
comfortable and safe because that will improve their levels. Also, the centers help the
teacher a lot while she teaches the lesson and doing the activities because she can let two
groups to go in reading and role play center to play, then she will have more time to focus
more on weak students.
