Glass that has been formed in the forming machine will be channeled into the

annealing, that is an area that serves to cool the glass slowly and gradually to
reach room temperature and glass until really hard. The purpose of this slow
cooling is to achieve the stability of the glass molecules and to keep the glass
from getting brittle or breakable easily.

slow cooling process aims to avoid shock temperature on the glass. Because
shock temperature can lead to glass rupture.

The function of this stage is to prevent the occurrence of tension between

molecules on the glass that not spread evenly, that can lead to fragmentation.
The glass annealing process consists of 2 activities, that is:
(1) hold the glass with sufficient time above a certain critical temperature to
lower the internal strain, and
(2) cooling the glass to room temperature slowly to hold the strain to its
maximum point.

Another goal of the annealing process is to relieve the permanent

stresses created by the fast cooling below the strain point which
occurred during the forming process of the glass

This process inside the "annealing lehr". For this type of sheet glass, annealing
lehr passed by glass that moves on the walking wheel.

For a good annealing of the constraints, the viscosity of the glass should be Not
too high (constraints cannot be released anymore) and Not too low (the glass
will not retain its shape)
