1. SCOPE
This document provides guidelines for the installation of DeltaV TM Scalable Process System in a Class I
Division 2 Group A, B, C, D Hazardous Location. Installation shall be in accordance with Article 500 of
the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA-70.
2. APPLICATION
System components intended for use in a Class I Division 2 Group A, B, C, D hazardous location have
been evaluated to Factory Mutual Class Number 3611, December 2004. Approved components are
labeled per the Factory Mutual requirements. Figure 1 shows the basic configurations of approved
components. General installation of these components is covered in Installing Your DeltaV TM Scalable
Process System. Special installation requirements, applicable to the use in a Class I Division 2 Group A,
B, C, D hazardous location, are defined in the following sections.

3. EQUIPMENT ENCLOSURE
The final equipment enclosure was not examined as part of this Approval but it must comply with the
requirements of this paragraph. The system must be mounted in an enclosure in accordance to
requirement for protection listed in clause 5 in Class Number 3600.
Accessibility- The equipment must be mounted in the enclosure so that its circuits are accessible by the
use of a tool only. A part is accessible when a.) the IEC articulated accessibility probe applied in every
possible position to the exterior or exposed surfaces, including the bottom; or b.) the IEC rigid
accessibility probe applied with a maximum force of 30 Newtons,(6.75 lbs. force) in every possible
position to the exterior or exposed surface, including the bottom, touches the part. For rack or panel
mounted equipment, the IEC probes shall be applied only to the exterior or exposed surfaces remaining
after installation.
Protection From Fire - If the enclosure is non metallic, it shall have the proper flammability rating.
Grounding - A metallic enclosure must have a protective grounding terminal and be marked as such. All
accessible non-current conductive parts must be bonded to the protective grounding terminal with a
resistance not exceeding 0.1 ohms.
General Construction - The equipment enclosure, or parts of the enclosure, required to be in place to
comply with the requirements for protection from electric shock, spread of fire, personal injury, protection
of internal parts and wiring and external cord and cable assembly strain relief shall comply with the
following tests for mechanical strength:
a. Impact Tests - The equipment shall be held firmly against a rigid support and shall be
subjected to sets of three blows with a force of 6.6 Joules (4.9 lbf) from a spring-operated impact
hammer. The hammer shall be applied to any external part that when broken is likely to expose
live parts. A window of an indicating device shall withstand an impact of 0.085 Newton-meter
(0.753 pound force-inch) from a hollow steel impact sphere 50.8 mm (2 inches) in diameter and
an approximate mass of 1 13.4 grams (4 ounces).
b. Mechanical Tests - A force of 90 Newtons (20 pounds) shall be applied from a metal rod 12.7
mm (.50 inch) in diameter, the end of which is rounded. The force shall be applied for one minute
to any point on the overall enclosure except the bottom. The bottom shall sustain a force of 65
Newtons (15 pounds).
c. Tip Stability Test - Equipment having a weight of 11 kilograms (24 pounds) or more shall not
tip over when placed at the center of an inclined plane that makes an angle of 10 degrees with
the horizontal and then turned to the position (with all doors, drawers and other openable and
sliding parts in the least stable position) most likely to cause tip-over.
4. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Power for the I/O subsystem is provided by two independent circuits. The system power supply and the
field power supply.
System power - Supplied by the system power supply via the power/controller carrier to the I/O carrier.

Additional I/O Carriers or a Local Bus Extender can be used to further distribute the system
power provided:
The combination of up to eight I/O Carriers and Local Bus Extenders shall not to exceed
6.5 m (21.3ft). (NOTE: Other operational parameters may further restrict the allowable
number of carriers see Installing Your DeltaV TM Scalable Process System.)
Power must be de-energized before disconnecting any carriers or local bus extender cables.
Some cards may be removed and inserted with the system power energized provided:
The system power supply must be FM Approved for use in a Class I Division 2 Group A,
B, C, D Hazardous location and must have parameters open circuit voltage (Voc)
12.6Vdc maximum, and output inductance (Lo) not more than 23 microhenries.
Table 1 indicates if the card can be removed and installed in a Class I Division 2 Group
A, B, C, D location with the system power energized.
Field power - Supplied to the I/O cards either at the field terminal or as bussed field power via the I/O
carrier.
Bussed field power must be de-energized before removing and inserting cards.
Field circuits - For a Class I Division 2 Group A, B, C, D location the field circuits are classified
according to type. Some cards have non-incendive type circuits; other cards have non-arcing circuits.
Table 1 indicates the field circuit type for each model.
Non-incendive field circuits are designed such that under normal operating conditions energy
is limited. The circuit is not capable of igniting the surrounding flammable gas or vapor by
opening, shorting or grounding the field wiring. Non-incendive parameters are specified in table 1.
The criteria for devices connected to non-incendive circuits (Reference figures 1, figure 2, figure
3 and figure 4):
Voltage (V max) and current (I max) must be equal to or greater than the voltage Voc and
current Isc levels Specified in table 1.
Maximum unprotected capacitance (Ci ) and inductance (Li ) of the non-incendive device,
including interconnecting wiring, must be less than or equal to the capacitance (Ca ) and
inductance (La) specified in table 1.
Apparatus connected to the non-incendive circuits shall not supply power to the field
wiring.
Multiple non-incendive field wiring circuits must be installed per the NEC Article
501.10(B)(3).

Note 1: When used with a KJ1501X1-BA2 AC/DC System Power Supply or a KJ1501X1-BCxx Dual
DC/DC System Power Supply when operating on 24VDC input or a KJ1501X1-BCxx Dual DC/DC System
Power Supply with primary circuit wiring inductance of less than 23uh when operating on 12VDC input or
a KJ1501X1-BB1 DC/DC Power Supply with primary circuit wiring inductance of less than 23uh or an FM
Approved Supply with a Voc maximum of 12.6Vdc and an Lo of less than 23uh (including wire
inductance).
Note 2: The Series-2 FieldBus H1 Card Field Circuit classification is Nonincendive only when this device
used with FieldBus devices and a FieldBus power supply that are also have Nonincendive ratings. All
devices on the segment must be rated as Nonincendive. See Figure 4.
Note 3: Replace fuses only with Type Number KJ4010X1-BC1 fuses. Replacement Fuse Kit KJ4010X1-
BC1 contains twenty replacement fuses (individual part number 55P0587X012).
Note 4: Inactive Model These model numbers have been replaced by a newer model number unit with
enhanced functionality/capability. The old model is no longer included in the sales of new systems. The
old model continues to be FM approved and is required to support repair and replacements in installed-
base systems that are not compatible with the newer model-numbered unit.
Note 5: Reunumbered Model These model numbers have been restructured and now have a new
model number. The old numbers continue to be FM approved. This change was made for manufacturing
and distribution reasons.
Note 6: For Nonincendive installations SLS DOUT channels must be installed using a KJ2231X1-EE1
Current Limiter. Review channel wiring when making software configuration changes to the channel type
Note 7: Field Power to the KJ2201X1-BA1 SLS Module must be de-energized before removing or
connecting the I/O connections to the SIS Current Limiter Modules.
Note 8: Output of the SIS Current Limiter is an energy limited non-incendive circuit acceptable for use in
Hazardous Class I Division 2 Group A, B ,C ,D Locations.
