President Trump has been without question the most twitter active president in history.

Optimistically, he uses it to speak to the people and let them be in touch with their president. However,

some say that he uses twitter as a distraction from his failures and uses it to mislead people from what

is truly happening in the world. In this blog myself and Tommy will discuss the pros and cons of having

such an active president on social media and if his usage is a detriment or a positive for the country.

President Trump has been called the King of Twitter. His purposes range from pushing the

talking points of Fox News to attacking those who speak out against him. More recently, he has been

using twitter as a way to lash out against the Russian probe led by Robert Mueller. But, is his usage

indicative of a larger issue? Some say that Trumps usage is inappropriate for the office of President.

However, this does not have very much stock as an argument against him as the years have past, many

Presidents have pushed the ideas of what is presidential and what is not. Such as Obama participating in

March Madness and filling out a basketball bracket. So it would not be too out of the ball park to claim

that his overall usage is not presidential, but many people not only take issue with how much he tweets,

they also take issue on what he is saying.

Trump has multiple issues that he often tweets about. He notoriously watches Fox News and is

not afraid to tweet their talking points out to the country. He also uses twitter as a weapon to attack

those who speak ill of his presidency and will insult people using it. Trump will reversely use twitter as a

way to fanatically defend himself when he feels he is being threatened. In addition to all of these, he will

sometimes use twitter to spark controversy, outright lie about a situation, or stretch statistics to make

himself seem more favorable. Trump has been known to tweet little else on his personal account and

because of this, many of his critics take a position of opposition when debating the presidents use of

twitter. Trump has been called childish by many other politicians for his usage of the platform as he is
simply throwing insults at people and only tweeting what will make him look favorable to the people

even if those things are grounded in little to no truth or factual relevance. Many of his own voters have

said that although they liked the way the president was running the country, they wish he didnt tweet

as much. Furthermore, he is upsetting governments abroad and putting the country in a less favorable

position with his constant insults towards his foreign counterparts. He has even put the military on its

toes as with the transgender ban he proposed without consulting any of his generals. Any of these

issues would cause grounds for worry, but all combined should be downright alarming to the people of

America.

Donald Trump was able to position himself as an outsider during the 2016. When you take into

account how unhappy the American people have become. According to the news article Facttank

published November 23 2015 http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/11/23/6-key-takeaways-

about-how-americans-view-their-government/ stated that only 19% of the population thinks the federal

government does the right thing most of the time. In political correctness debate, most Americans

think too many people are easily offended This article points out that 59% of people think it has gone to

far only 39% think it has not gone far enough. There is no doubt that Trumps tweets must speak to this

59% while only upsetting the 39%. That is a twenty percent swing in his favor.

It is clear that although Trump speaks to his base and his base alone when he tweets, he angers

and upsets large portion of the country. It could be argued that Trump is only speaking to his base and

his base alone when he tweets and what he tweets is only meant for them. However, this in it of itself is

an issue as the President of the United States should not be the President of his voters and his voters

alone. This is no where near the cause of the divisiveness of our country but President Donald Trumps

tweeting habits are a direct effect of it. And until he stops tweeting to his 59% and starts tweeting to his

100%, this debate will persist.
