. INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this document is to demonstrate and verify the design and capacity calculation of
Wastewater Treatment System for Jimah East Power 2 x 1000MW Coal Fired Power Plant.

The Wastewater Treatment System is designed to comply with the permissible discharge limits for aqueous
discharges into seawater via cooling water outlet. The design of the Wastewater Treatment System adapted
according to the final permission for waste water discharge.

The Wastewater Treatment System is matched to cope with all chemically polluted wastewater from the
Jimah East Power Plant, except boiler cleaning chemical waste.

DESIGN BRIEF & Description
EQUIPMENT NAME
of THE TECHNOLOGY for WWTP
A. ABNORMAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM

Holdup and Reservation

Pre-retention basin and Retention basin are wastewater basin for plant generated wate water.
Normally, influent wastewater component for pre-retention basin is abnormal wastewater such as:
Wastewater Pre-Retention Basin
Boiler drain (Bahandling, ESP, B/D tank, RAPH Cleaning)) and FA Washing
Pre-retention and retention basins can be used as back ups for each other.
Capacity : 4000 m3

B. OILY WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM

API(American Petroleum Institute) separator is the most common means of separating insoluble oil from water in power plant, refining and petrochemical wastewater.
The API separator consists of a rectangular concrete basin with multiple-channels which provides sufficient holdup time for oil droplets to allow to rise to the surface and
delaminated oil will be skimmed away wil oil skimmer.
API Oil Separator Pond API Oil Separator Pond is for Oil treatment.
Influent wastewater component :
Turbine plant drain and CCW Drain, Light fuel oil tank yard sump, Transformer area(main BOP, ECP)
Capacity : 116 m3

Oily Wastewater Pond Holdup and Reservation of oily wastewater

Corrugated Plate Interceptor(CPI) of type is EPS(Egg plate seperator) Plate Pack.
The efficiency of an oil / water separator is inversely proportional to the ratio of its discharge rate to the unit's surface area.
A separator's surface area can be increased by the installation of parallel plates in the separator chamber. The resulting parallel
CPI Oil Separator
plate separator will have a surface area increased by the sum of the horizontal projections of the plates added.
Primarilly treated oily waste water from API Pond will be flow to CPI Oil Separator and remove the remained oily components.
Capacity : 70 m3/hr
Holdup and Reservation
Skimmed oil from API Oil Separator will be flow into Oil Sludge Pond.
Oil Sludge Pond
Collected oil will be discharged by the vacuum pump.
Capacity : 8 m3
C. CHEMICAL W.W TREATMENT SYSTEM

Holdup and Reservation

Pre-retention basin and Retention basin are wastewater basin for plant generated wate water.
Normally, influent wastewater component for retention basin is normal wastewater such as:
Wastewater Retention Basin WT System wastewater(including filter backwash, Regeneration Waste, Chemical Storage and Unloading Station drain), Effluent pump return, Ash pond overflow,
Chemical wastewater (including aux. boiler, cpp regen, STG BLDG (chemical dosing drain, sampling flushing drain)
Pre-retention and retention basins can be used as back ups for each other.
Capacity : 2000 m3

Capacity : 42 Nm3/min
WW Air Blower
Pre-retention basin and retention basin is equalized and mixed by aeration from WW air blower.

After the chemical treatment step, pH Adjustment Tanks which designed for pH adjustment of wastewater by using acidic or alkaline additives, to prevent shocking the
biological system downstream.
pH Adjustment Tank
pH adustment range is pH 6~8
Capacity : 32.8 m3
Coagulation and flocculation processes are used to facilitate the elimination of suspended solids and colloids by gathering these together to form floc. Detention time of
flocculation tank is 20 min.
Flocculation tanks are typically used to treat wastewater treatment. Flocculating agents are added to the wastewater to promote formation or agglomeration of larger
Coagulation Tank & Flocculation Tank
particle masses from the fine solids formed during treatment.
Capacity : 32.8 m3 (coagulation tank)
Capacity : 44 m3 (flocculation tank)

Clarifier is used for sedimentation which is the method most frequently used for separating suspended solids and colloids. The colloid has to be aggregated as floc after
the coagulation.
Supernatant overflowed to the Effluent pond.
The primary purpose of a clarifier is to separate solids from the wastewater through gravitational settling.
Clarifier
Clarifiers also have sludge raking arms that remove the accumulation of organic solids collected at the bottom of the tank.
The depth and cross-sectional area of a clarifier are functions of the settling rate of the suspended solids and the thickening characteristics of the sludge. Clarifiers are
designed to provide sufficient retention time for the settling and thickening of these solids.
Capacity : 14.1 mD x 4 mH

The volume reduction obtained by sludge concentration is beneficial to subsequenct treatment processes.
Thickening is a procedure used to increase the solids content of sludge by removing a portion of the liquid fraction.
Supernatant overflowed to the Wastewater pre-retention basin and retention basin.
Thickener
Thickener provides some equalization and blending of the sludge. This smoothes the flow and improves the uniformity of the
solids fed to downstream equipment. Thickners can also be designed to provide some minimal strorage capacity.
Capacity : 5.9 mD x 3.5 mH

Holdup and Reservation

Effluent Pond Waste treated water will be stored in effluent pond before disposal. Effluent water is pumped to the coal settling basin and aeration pond.
Capacity : 500 m3

Dewatering is a physical process to reduce water from the sludge.

Sludge cakes produced from dehydrator will be disposed by chute and collected in jumbo bags which is local standard for sludge disposal. The sludge collected jumbo
bags will be transferred to Open Waste Storage Area(outdoor sludge yard) by folk lift. Filled jumbo bags will be disposed by the Owner.
Dehydrator units These units are continuous, mechanical, sludge dewatering devices. They use single moving belts to dewater sludges continuously through stages of dewatering.
Belt press filtration processes operate with three basic stages - chemical conditioning of the feed, gravity drainage of the sludge and dewatering of the drained sludge by
shear and compression.
Capacity : 154 kg DS/hr
