explained and illustrated with model examples on the pages that follow.

AT A GLANCE.

1 A new consistent feature is that all layout and text

The newly developed design principles of the BMW brand not only
allow for a more flexible layout structure, they also make it possible
to vary the content focus. In addition to the choice of visual motifs,
the variable positioning of the layout elements also determines the
focus of communication.

Here the text elements are aligned at one side of the format, as if on
a vertical flagstaff, from which they protrude in ragged lengths. They
must be vertically arranged as this allows them to respond most
effectively to the visual motif. The design principles support both a
product-based style as well as a more emotional, creative approach
in which a story is told in addition to presenting the automobile.
In spite of the increased flexibility, a consistent appearance and
characteristic brand sender designation are still guaranteed.
