INTRODUCTION
Phenolic Yellowing (Storage Yellowing)
Textile fabrics and packaging materials (that contain BHT) come into contact with each other
during storage or transportation.
Here again, antioxidants are converted into yellow compounds by the action of NOx-gases.
A treatment with special kind of anti-yellowing inhibitors offers a long lasting protection of textile
against storage yellowing.

ANTI-YELLOWING INHIBITOR FOR NYLON FABRICS

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: Aqueous preparation of alkylsulphonate salt

CHARACTERISTICS:
Application material polyamide as well as their mixtures with elastane

Application field storage and transportation

Appearance: brown liquid

Ionicity: Anionic

Solubility / Emulsifiability: miscible in cold water

PH-value of 1% solution: pH7-pH9

Resistance: no thermal decomposition when stored and handled

Storage: at least 12 months if properly stored

Stability to frost: not sensitive to frost

Usage method: exhaust process

APPLICATION PROPERTIES:
The yellowing of stored textiles essentially depends on the following conditions:

the presence of a sterically hindered phenol (e.g. BHT)

the presence of nitrogen oxides
humidity, time and temperature
prevents yellowing in the presence of BHT which is often present in plastic bags, elastane,

polyurethane foam(in bras) etc.

It can be applied to polyamide textiles, especially white and pale shade goods
One-bath with optical brightening or dyeing by exhaust process
high affinity with polyamide fiber
good resistant to washing
free from APEO
biodegradable

Test Method
The Phenolic yelllowing test Marks & Spencer C20B is often prescribed and used for testing of the
tendency to storage yellowing.
The textile fabrics is put between a special impregnated paper and stored under defined

conditions at 50 for 16 hours.

After the treatment the tendency to yellowing is visible.
Use standard grey scale to evaluate the color between the specimen and the original sample.
