I think were scared that somehow were going to be
made to feel like a fool if we show forgiveness, and I think
Music culturally weve made the mistake of equating forgiveness
with weakness. And actually it takes a lot of strength to
actively forgive someone, and actively forgive ourselves.

The Strength To Forgive

The 49-year-old Scottish singer has now been making
music for 35 years 21 of which have been spent with
Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig in Garbage.
The band toured last year for the 20th anniversary of their

of the human condition, and I think were currently living
in times where were forced into pretending that we dont
coexist with all these conflicting emotions.
I dont think thats what being a human being is. I
think we have moments of confidence and then moments
of crushing self-doubt. We can feel elated one minute and
we can feel really disappointed the next.
Self-doubt, while it can be a helpful instructor to
creativity, no longer inhibits Manson. She considers
herself lucky enough to have enjoyed a long career: You

than its predecessor. The strong melodies and harmonies, singalong
choruses and expansive layers of instrumentation suggest The
Temper Trap have reaped the creative benefits of a renewed focus on
the fundamentals of songwriting and production.
The opening title track sets the pace, with Toby Dundas

Making noise and shouting defining the track as an instant anthem.
So Much Sky and Burn raise the emotional stakes, with the formers

Achtung Baby-worthy guitar sounds and super-sized chorus seemingly
custom-made to lift the roofs off arenas.
The Temper Trap The album is unrelentingly, but not detrimentally, upbeat. If we

Thick As Thieves while, on Alive, they decide simply that It feels so good/So good to be

Following the sting of separation from Sillitto, the band finds positivity
