ABSTRACT
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in which many
cells and cellular elements play a role. The Chronic inflammation is associated with airway hiperresponsiveness that leads to recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are approximately 300 million worldwide asthma patients. According to the 1992 Survey Kesehatan Rumah Tangga (SKRT), asthma is the fourth leading causes of mortality in Indonesia (5,6%). Whereas according to Riset Kesehatan Dasar results, the prevalence of asthma in Indonesia is approximately 4%. The purpose of this study is to obtain a profile of asthma outpatients from the asthma policlinic in RSUP Haji Adam Maliks Pulmonary Division. This is a descriptive study with a Cross Sectional Approach in which the samples were chosen using the total sampling method. The data from the 50 samples were taken from the medical record. The data collected is then analyzed using the Statisticale Products Social Science (SPSS) program. The results from this study show that the majority of asthma patients are female (84%). The patients are within the 45-54 years old age group (25%), having dust as the majority inciting factor (46%), and the majority suffers from intermitten asthma (39,1%). The majority of lung function is APE/VEP1>80% (47,2%), and uses AsKes (44%). The majority of medication given is short acting -2 agonists (74%). We can conclude that from this study the profile of asthma outpatients from the asthma policlinic in RSUP Haji Adam Maliks Pulmonary Division are within 45-54 years old age group with female as the dominating gender, dust as the inciting factor, classified under intermitten asthma, with APE/VEP1 lung function > 80%, uses AsKes, and are given short acting -2 agonists medication.
