Indian-born Reuben brothers top UK rich list, Hindujas at No 2

Britain's annual rich list has a distinctly Indian flavour with two sets of India- born brothers grabbing the top
two slots.
Mumbai-born property magnates David and Simon Reuben have topped 'The Sunday Times' Rich List 2016
with a fortune of 13.1 billion pounds, followed by the Hinduja brothers at 13 billion pounds.
The Reubens, who own London Oxford Airport and London Heliport, have increased their fortune by 3.4
billion pounds in the past year to jump to the top slot.

Rafael Nadal beats Kei Nishikori to reclaim Barcelona Open title, equals
Guillermo Vilas clay court record

Rafael Nadal beat defending champion Kei Nishikori 6-4, 7-5 to win the Barcelona Open for the ninth
time, equalling Guillermo Vilas record of 49 career clay-court titles.
Nadal added this title to his trophy from Monte Carlo last week as the 14-time Grand
Slam winner regains form on his favourite surface ahead of next months French Open.

SBI Quick introduces facility to control debit card frauds

To check debit card frauds, SBI has launched a facility under 'SBI Quick: SMS and Missed Call Banking'
service whereby the customer can choose to activate or deactivate their cards using various platforms, like
ATM, and Point of Sale (POS).
Activation or deactivation of the debit card can be done using platforms like ATM, Point of Sale (POS), e-
commerce websites, international usage and domestic usage.

Indo- Mongolia Joint Military Exercise, Nomadic Elephant- 2016


Commences at Mongolia

The eleventh India-Mongolia joint training exercise, Nomadic Elephant-2016, to promote military
associations between the countries kicked off at Mongolia.
The exercise, which will culminate on May 8, aims to develop synergy and inter-operability between the
armies to battle in counter insurgency and counter terrorism environment under the UN mandate.
A platoon of the Indian Armys Kumaon Regiment along with a team of two observers will be taking part in
the event.

New Zealand's $5 named best banknote of 2015

New Zealands five-dollar note has been named the banknote of the year for 2015, a clear winner
among nearly 40 eligible designs from a record 20 countries.
The honour is awarded every year by the International Bank Note Society.
To be eligible, a banknote must have been issued for the first time during the year of the award, and
be in general circulation. It is assessed for its artistic merit and/or innovative security features,
including use of colour, contrast and balance.

Giant Mandela statue unveiled in Palestine

Palestinians inaugurated a giant statue of Nelson Mandela donated by the South African city of
Johannesburg to their political capital in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
The six-metre (20-foot) two-tonne bronze statue was a gift from Johannesburg with which Ramallah
is twinned.

India gets its own GPS with successful launch of 7th navigation satellite

ISRO's PSLV-C33, carrying India's seventh navigation satellite IRNSS-1G, blasted off from the Satish
Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 12.50 p.m. The satellite was successfully placed in sub-
Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.
A regional navigation satellite system with just seven spacecraft and in civil domain is unique to India. The
three global versions of other countries offer worldwide commercial coverage and are operated by their
militaries.
IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) will be to the subcontinent what the GPS is to its
users worldwide, but with far greater precision and in Indian control, according to the Indian Space
Research Organisation. It is expected to provide position accuracy of better than 20 m over Indian region
and also an area extending up to 1,500 sq. km around India.

Lobsang Sangay re-elected as PM of Tibetan government-in-exile

Lobsang Sangay has been re-elected prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile in voting held last
month.
It was the second election since the Dalai Lama stepped down as head of the government-in-exile in 2011 to
focus on his role as the Tibetans spiritual leader. Tibetans living in exile cast their votes in 40 countries.

Indra Nooyi, Satya Nadella, Bhavesh Patel among highest paid CEOs in
world

As many as three Indian origin persons have been named among 100 highest-paid CEOs globally with
PepsiCo's Indra Nooyi and LyondellBasell's Bhavesh Patel making it to the top ten list compiled by
Equilar.
Chemicals company LyondellBasell Industries' top executive Bhavesh V Patel was ranked sixth on the list
with a total compensation of $24.5 million, while Nooyi, the Chief Executive of PepsiCo was ranked eighth
on the list with a total pay of $22.2 million.
Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft was ranked 26th on the list of 100 highest-paid CEOs with a total
compensation of $18.3 million.

Joint Venture for first Auto Shredding Plant in India for Recycling of
Specialised Steel

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Mahindra Intertrade Ltd and MSTC Limited,
a PSU under the Ministry of Steel, for setting up a Joint Venture Company for establishing first of its kind
Auto Shredding Plant in India.

Govt permits 100 pc FDI in online market places

The government today permitted 100 per cent FDI in the market place format of e-commerce retailing with
a view to attract more foreign investments.
To bring clarity, the DIPP has also come out with the definition of 'e-commerce', 'inventory-based model'
and 'market place model'.
At present, global e-tailer giants like Amazon and Ebay are operating online marketplaces in India while
home-grown players like Flipkart and Snap deal have foreign investments even as there were no clear FDI
guidelines on various online retail models.

India to dominate working-age population growth in Asia Pacific by 2050:


UN

India is projected to dominate the growth in the working-age population in Asia Pacific by 2050, becoming
home to over a billion people eligible to enter the job market, a UN report has said.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) underlined in its latest Regional Human
Development Report that Asia-Pacific countries now have more working-aged people and fewer dependents
than at any point in history, providing a springboard for growth.
Region-wide, 68 per cent of people are of working age and only 32 per cent are dependents.
