INTRODUCTION ORGANISATION

Terengganu Public Works Department is a department under the administration of the


State Government in charge of projects for State and Federal Government It is a
department that provides technical expertise to the State Government and Government
Agencies to another. Moreover, The Public Works Department is responsible for
realizing the aspirations of the government in improving infrastructure and public
facilities as well as other facilities such as roads, buildings and other.

BACKGROUND ESTABLISHMENT OF ORGANIZATION

Around 1950 and 1960 an English engineer gave input good to the community as
backward and lives in the village with the motto "Service to the People".JKR Dungun
establishment is in the 1920s but is still not valid because it is orally by people long.
Known as the Public Works Department (PWD). The name is very relevant to the
functions and duties to give and build facilities to the people in general.
The Englishman led the engineers from Britain to be appointed as Executive Engineer,
Regional Administrator, Town Planning and Economic Planning in each region
including areas Dungun Malaya.Offices PWD built by the English around 1938 next
to the police station Dungun and dealing with the Forest Service Dungun District (now
the Office of Youth and Sports) placing parts Workshop Heavy Machinery, Joinery,
Joinery Street and Store addition to saving vehicles such as Albion lorry type, U-
Clicks, Scrappers, graders, Shovers, Bulldozers, Rockers and so on.

In 1926 with the serial number 1 PWD is the first project built Dungun District Office,
costing RM5,446.76 located in Jalan Besar faced with Field Pavilion and so build
Officials of the Land Council and the Town Board.In 1927 with the serial number of
PWD 2 Customs office is located in Tanjung Kuala Dungun complex adjacent to the
Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) costing RM1,544.20. Construction of a Rest
House (Rest House) palm roofed used by English speakers in 1923 with the serial
number of PWD 4. Located adjacent to the Office of Youth and Sports (the building
was demolished to build the NGO's Welfare Council of Malaysia Dungun branch).

In 1936, the Dungun Hospital built in front of the police station building houses a
dispensary (where brewing drug), Dressers' quarters, the male ward and the female
ward on the beach. And the same year a French school located in Jalan Dungun built
Pak Trade and tufted palm roofed two-storey cement.In 1937, Mercado Dungun (The
Round), Post Office, Police Station and Government Club or Royal Club was built in
the same year.In 1938, a building constructed by PWD as cost RM610.00 PWD office
until 1963 before moving to the present site of the Office of Public Works.

In 1926, the police station was formerly Merchang Merchang built under the
administration of PWD Dungun. While in 1949 the police station and barracks built
Kampung Batu Lima.Dungun District Development began berpesat in the 1950s. In
1953 Dungun District Religious Office (Office Kadi) built in Kampung Sungai Udang
which is adjacent to Masjid Sungai Udang and Building Fire Brigde (Fire and Rescue)
in Kampung Tengah Sungai Penaga.In 1956, the British built a secondary school
called Dungun Secondary School (DESS) Mleayu because people are not educated to
use English as a medium.

In tahun1957, Brampton Court House (Magistrate's Court) built a numbered series of

ride from Tanjung Batu to Tanjung Pagar breaking the car in front of him. Resulting in
the bus and the train plunged into Sungai Dungun (23 passenger bus and car
passengers died. After Dungun Bridge completed many events and heartbreaking
accident occurred (involving several cars).
