So what is Foundation Training?

The Foundation Programme is a two-year


generic training programme which forms the
bridge between medical school and specialist /
general practice training.

What this actually means

Trainees will have the opportunity to gain


experience in a series of placements in a variety
of specialties and healthcare settings.

opportunity to gain experience
through a work based training
programme supported by the
local foundation school.

Full GMC Registration

If you have completed a 12 month


internship / clerkship, it is likely you will be
eligible to apply for full registration with the
GMC and obtain a licence to practice

Working in the UK / Criteria

For doctors who are EEA citizens, there are currently


no visa or immigration restrictions (except for
Croatian Nationals).
EEA doctors currently need to be able to evidence a
level of training or certification equivalent to UK
medical qualifications and be registered with the UKs
GMC.
You must also be apply to demonstrate an
acceptable standard of English in clinical practice
during medical school or Academic IELTS 7.5 in
every domain.

Recruitment will begin in February 2017.

The 1st step will be to check if you are


eligible according to the criteria: medical
degree, expect or hold full GMC
registration, English language proficiency,
right to work in the UK.

So what will you earn?

Juniors doctors earn a basic salary


of roughly 26,350 (approx.
30,847.23).

Consultants earn a basic salary of


roughly 76,001 (approx.
88,972.32).
