Age: 17+
Number of Students: 14
Learning Objectives: Ss will be able to practice their listening and speaking skills while
using their knowledge of tenses and vocabulary.
Introduction: In this speaking and listening activity Ss are going to play a miming game,
during which they will practice tenses and vocabulary. Topics will be related to students
interests and the game will be played in groups.
Procedure:
1. Before the class starts, make up some sentences and write them on the colorful
cards. Put the cards into the box.
2. Bring the box in the middle of the classroom and tell the Ss they are going to play
a miming game in groups. Tell them they will guess the words and complete the
sentences (See Appendix 1). The group guessing more sentences correctly will get
points and become a winner.
3. Have Ss get into two groups.
4. Ask the Ss to name their group and write each groups name on the board.
5. Ask one student from each group to come to the centre of the class and choose
one of the colorful cards from the box.
6. Have both students mime the sentences to their groups.
7. The first team to write down the correct sentence wins a point.
8. Repeat this until all students have mimed all the sentences and used all the cards.
9.
10. After having all cards read, collect the points and announce the winning group.
11. Have a little surprise for the winning group.
