Solution:
Option(D) is correct
=1/23/5=3/10
=1/22/6=1/6
Hence, Probability that white ball is drawn either first or second bag:
=3/10+1/6=7/15
A bag contains 5 red and 3 green balls. Another bag contains 4 red and 6 green balls. If one
ball is drawn from each bag. Find the probability that one ball is red and one is green.
A. 19/20
B. 17/20
C. 8/10
D. 21/40
E. 15/40
We have,
Bag 1:
Red ball = 5
Green Ball = 3
Bag 2:
Red ball = 4
Green Ball = 6
1. Probability of getting Red from Bag 1 and Green from Bag 2 = (5 /8) * (6 /10 ) = 30 /80.
2. Probability of getting Green from Bag 1 and Red from bag 2 = (3/8) * (4/10) = 12 /80.
A bag contains 5 red and 3 green balls. Another bag contains 4 red and 6 green balls. If one
ball is drawn from each bag what is the probability that one ball is red and one is green?
Now the condition of one red and one green ball is met if we get one from either of the bag and
the other from the remaining bag.
Case1:
Lets say we get red ball from bag 1 and green from bag 2. Then the probability of that being true
is 5/86/10=3/8.
Case2:
Lets say we get red ball from bag 2 and green from bag 1. Then the probability of that being true
is 3/84/10=3/20.
Since both the cases are possible, the probabilities will need to be added to arrive at the total
probability.
