A bag contains 3 white balls and 2 black balls.

Another bag contains 2 white and 4

Q2. black balls. A bag and a ball are picked random. The probability that the ball will be
white is:
A. 7/11
B. 7/30
C. 5/11
D. 7/15

Solution:
Option(D) is correct

The probability of selecting one bag =1/2

Now, probability of getting a white ball from bag A

=1/23/5=3/10

and probability of getting a white ball from bag B

=1/22/6=1/6
Hence, Probability that white ball is drawn either first or second bag:

=3/10+1/6=7/15

A bag contains 5 red and 3 green balls. Another bag contains 4 red and 6 green balls. If one
ball is drawn from each bag. Find the probability that one ball is red and one is green.

A. 19/20

B. 17/20

C. 8/10

D. 21/40
E. 15/40

Solution(By Examveda Team)

We have,

Bag 1:

Red ball = 5

Green Ball = 3

Bag 2:

Red ball = 4

Green Ball = 6

Now, according to the question we will have to cases.

1. Probability of getting Red from Bag 1 and Green from Bag 2 = (5 /8) * (6 /10 ) = 30 /80.

2. Probability of getting Green from Bag 1 and Red from bag 2 = (3/8) * (4/10) = 12 /80.

Therefore, Probability of getting Red and Green,

= (30 /80) + (12/80) = 42/80 = 21/40.

A bag contains 5 red and 3 green balls. Another bag contains 4 red and 6 green balls. If one
ball is drawn from each bag what is the probability that one ball is red and one is green?

Lets say bag1 has 5 red balls and 3 green balls while bag 2 has 4 red balls and 6 green balls.

P (bag1=red ball)= 5/8;

P (bag1=green ball)=3/8;
P (bag2=red ball)= 4/10;
P (bag2=green ball)= 6/10;

Now the condition of one red and one green ball is met if we get one from either of the bag and
the other from the remaining bag.

Case1:
Lets say we get red ball from bag 1 and green from bag 2. Then the probability of that being true
is 5/86/10=3/8.
Case2:
Lets say we get red ball from bag 2 and green from bag 1. Then the probability of that being true
is 3/84/10=3/20.

Since both the cases are possible, the probabilities will need to be added to arrive at the total
probability.

Thus 3/8+3/20= 21/40.
