Self Exercise: How Strong Is Your Motivation to Manage?
Questions for Discussion
1. Do you believe our adaptation of Miners motivation to manage instrument accurately
assessed your potential as a manager? Explain.

Answer: I am not sure that the seven factors: authority figures, competitive games, competitive
situations, assertive role, imposing wishes, standing out from group and routine administrative
work, accurately assessed my potential as a manager. I believe that some of the factors may not
be carried out by me like the authority figures; imposing wishes or the other given factor. I may
give extra weight to some or give a less attention to the other; instead I may be more focused on
the assertive role because assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without
being aggressive .My potential to manage others may also be more influenced by the way how I
manage myself so ones own perception should also be included as the eight dimension.

2. Which of the seven dimensions do you think is probably the best predictor of managerial
success? Which is the least predictive? Why?

Answer: For me, assertive role is the best predictor out of the seven dimensions for the
managerial success. Basically, assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident
without being aggressive. When you choose to be assertive, you operate from a position of
equality and respect. You respect your own rights, values and beliefs while respecting the rights,
values and beliefs of others. This nature helps make our life easier and achieve the desired goal
of the organization. The least predictive is imposing wishes because often time people end up
being authoritative. This results in losing the team members and ending up being disliked by the
entire members of the organization
