Rajnath Singh lays the Foundation stone for new (NDRF) campus
i. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new
campus of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at Kondapavuluru village of

For the first time in the world, Microsoft to deploy Azure Stack in Andhra Pradesh
i. Technology giant Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu
Naidu has signed agreement to utilise Microsoft Azure Stack for AP government state data centre
at the Microsoft Future Decoded held in Mumbai on February 22, 2017
ii. For the first time in the world, Microsoft Azure Stack will be used to migrate 340 live
applications of AP government from Hyderabad State Data Centre (SDC) to Vizag data centre.
ISRO Successfully Launches Record 104 Satellites in One Go from the SatishDhawan
Space Centre in Sriharikota
Setting a new record in the space mission, the Indian Space Research Organization
(ISRO) successfully launched 104 satellites in one go from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre
in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on February 15, 2017.
The satellites were launched on Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C37 which
marked its 39th flight.
The mission was ISROs first space mission for the year 2017 apart from being the most
complicated mission ever carried out.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated the space
agency for the historic event that significantly boosts Indias space programme.
About the Mission
The 104 satellite included a 714 kg Cartosat-2 Series satellite for earth observation, two
Indian nano satellites INS-1A and INS-1B and 101 international nano satellites. Of the 101
satellites, 96 of these belong to USA and one each belongs to Israel, Kazakhstan,
Netherlands, Switzerland and United Arab Emirates.
Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C37 took off firstly to launch the 714 kg Cartosat-2
series satellite for earth observation, followed by two of Indias nano satellites, INS-1A and
INS-1B, weighing 30 kg and finally the 101 co-passenger satellites together weighing about
664 kg.
In total, the entire launch carried a satellite mass of about 1,378 kg.The satellites were
placed in the 520 km distant polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO) in a gap of about 30
minutes after separations.
So far, ISRO has launched 226 satellites, including 179 belonging to foreign countries.
THE PAYLOAD
INS1-A and INS 1-B
The two Indian nano satellites INS-1A and INS-1B were developed as co-passenger satellites to
accompany bigger satellites on PSLV.

The primary objective of INS (ISRO Nano Satellite) is to provide an opportunity for ISRO
technology demonstration payloads, provide a standard bus for launch on demand services.
INS-1A and INS-1B carries total of four different payloads from Space Applications Centre
(SAC) and Laboratory for Electro Optics Systems (LEOS) of ISRO for conducting various
experiments.
INS-1A carries Surface Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function Radiometer and INS-
1B caries Earth Exosphere Lyman Alpha Analyser as payloads.
101 International Satellites
The 101 international customer nano-satellites are being launched as part of the commercial
arrangements between Antrix Corporation Limited (Antrix), the commercial arm of ISRO and
the international customers.
A majority of the satellites of US have earth-imaging capability and belong to a US
company named Planet.

Andhra Pradesh Presents Around 1.57 Lakh Crore Budget for 2017-18
The Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister YanamalaRamakrishnudu presented Rs 1,56,999
crore budget for the financial year 2017-18 in the Legislative Assembly on March 15, 2017.The
proposed budget for 2017-18 is about 15.70 percent more than the budget for 2016-17.
Important Highlights of the Budget
1. Revenue expenditure: Rs 1.25 lakh crore
2. Capital expenditure: Rs 31,087 crore
3. States revenue deficit in 2017-18: Rs 416 crore (0.05 per cent of Gross State Domestic
Product)
4. Fiscal deficit: Rs 23,054 crore (3.0 percent of GSDP)
5. Under Vision 2029, the state is targeting a growth rate of 12 percent every year.

Technical Education: Rs 765 crore
Assistance for Unemployed Youth: Rs 500 crore

Water sharing between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana KRMB to look after the issue
The issue in sharing of water from river Krishna between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is to be
looked after by Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) as informed by Minister of state for
Water Resources and River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan in
Lok Sabha.
The Central government has constituted the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to look
into the issue.
Role of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB)
The main role of KRMB will be issuing water release orders from time to time based on ad-hoc
arrangement.
The order must be accepted by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for sharing Krishna river water.
The final allocation is to be made by the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal -II.

AP red chilli farmers to get Rs 1500 more per quintal above market price
The Red chillies farmers of Andhra Pradesh has to suffer a lot due to the price crash of chillies
from Rs 12000-14000 per quintal last year to below Rs 5,000 per quintal this year at the
Guntur Chilli market yard.
i. Chilli prices crashed from Rs12000-14000 per quintal last year to below Rs5,000 per quintal for
this year
ii. Under this scheme the government of Andhra Pradesh has mentioned that every farmer can
get an additional benefit of Rs1500 per quintal subject to a ceiling of 20 quintals.

Andhra Pradesh inks deal with HCL Tech to set up Rs 500 crore research facilities
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh on 12th May signed a deal with HCL Technologies.
To set up of Rs 500-crore IT research facility in Vijayawada.
i. The company will invest Rs 500 crore in ten years, for a development centre, training facility
and other ancillary facilities.
ii. HCL will aim to hire, employ and train 5,000 local residents in the region in two phases.

Ministry of Urban Development launches Liveability Index for 116 cities to measure
quality of life
On June 23, 2017, Urban Development Ministry launched "City Liveability Index". It is a
first of its kind initiative to measure the quality of life in 116 major cities including capital
cities and those with population over one million.
More Information about City Liveability Index:
The index was launched by Urban Development Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu at a National
Workshop on Urban Transformation in New Delhi.
The cities will be assessed on a comprehensive set of 79 parameters to capture the
extent and quality of infrastructure including availability of roads, education and
health care, mobility, employment opportunities, emergency response, grievance
redressal, pollution, availability of open, green spaces, and culture.
Incentives for Urban Reforms:
On June 23, 2017, Mr. Naidu also disbursed Rs 500 crore as incentive to 16 states that
performed well in implementing urban reforms during 2016-17.

First rural LED street lighting project to take off in Andhra Pradesh
Central government will be retrofitting 10 lakh conventional street lights with energy efficient LED
lights in Gram Panchayats of 7 districts in Andhra Pradesh. This will be Indias first rural
LED Street Lighting Project.
More Details about Indias first Rural LED Street Lighting Project in Andhra Pradesh:
The project will be carried out through the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) under
the Ministry of Power.
Gram panchayats of the districts of Guntur, Prakasham, Nellore, Kurnool, Kadapa,
Ananthapur and Chittoor will be covered under the first phase of the project.
Post this replacement drive in rural areas, gram panchayats will cumulatively
save approximately 147 million units of electricity annually which will eventually lead to
reduction of 12 crore tonnes of CO2.
French Development Agency AgenceFranaise de Dveloppement (AFD) will
fund the entire upfront capital cost of this project.
World Bank, AIIB to granted $380 loan to Andhra Pradesh power project
The World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) have granted loan
to Andhra Pradesh for Power Project.
i. It aims towards helping the southern state and will build a reliable, quality and affordable power
supply to citizens.
ii. Total Cost of the project is USD 570 million, out of which USD 240 million is from World Bank
(IBRD) and USD 160 million from AIIB. The rest will be counterpart funding from GoAP.
iii. The World Bank and AIIB will provide loans in a 60:40 ratio for all the components of
the project.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry gave approval of Industrial Parks in Andhra Pradesh
Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) under Ministry of Commerce and
Industry has approved two projects for development of industrial clusters at Hindupur and Bobbili
in the respective districts of Ananatapur and Vizianagaram of Andhra Pradesh.

i.It comes under Modified Industrial Infrastructure Up gradation Scheme (MIIUS) .
ii.The objective of the above projects is to provide quality and reliable infrastructure to industrial

Andhra Pradesh first to implement Bharat QR digital payments to make Vizag less-cash
city
Andhra Pradeshs Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd (EPDCL) and the Southern
Power Distribution Corporation of AP Ltd (SPDCL) have become the first state-owned
distribution companies in India to accept payments through Bharat QR.
Key Points:
i.It is the worlds first interoperable quick response code acceptance solution launched by
the Reserve Bank of India.
ii.The Vizag Digital DhanSankalp project is an initiative lead by the Government of Andhra
Pradesh and Visa, to develop Visakhapatnam into Indias first lesscash city.
iii.The less cash Vizag initiative aims to transform Visakhapatnam into the FinTech Valley
of India, and to serve as a dynamic example of a digitized city, on a global scale.
iv.The initiative will aim to drive access, awareness and adoption of payments focusing on
underserved merchant and consumer segments, such as small merchants and women, to educate
them on the benefits of digital payments.
About Bharat QR
Bharat QR is a secure, network-agnostic interface that enables customers to use
their smartphones to make payments without exposing information like card numbers and
CVV.
i..To use Bharat QR to pay their electricity bills, customers will simply need to log in to their
banks app, and scan the QR code displayed on their electricity bill, enabling instant payment.
ii.Customers can also enter their unique Customer IDs online and generate a QR code that
can be scanned using their bank app.

Andhra CM Naidu announces new programme Jala Siriki Haarat to offer prayers to
water bodies
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a new programme
named Jala Siriki Haarati. It is a programme offering prayers to water bodies and to create
awareness among the public regarding water preservation announced on 6th sept. 2017.
Key Points:
i.The programme will be held on September 6, 7 and 8 across the state.
ii.The programme is aimed at praying at all kinds of water bodies like rivers, streams, lakes,
ponds, irrigation projects, water reservoirs, check dams etc.
AP signs MoU for countrys 1st Hyperloop to connect Vijayawada and Amaravati
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) has signed a memorandum of
understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) on 6th of
Sept. 2017.
Key Points:
i.The pact has been signed to connect Vijayawada and Amaravati, the new capital of
Andhra Pradesh in Guntur district.
ii.The project will use a public-private partnership (PPP) model with funding primarily from private
investors.
iii.The MoU will facilitate the development of HTTs hyperloop transportation system in Andhra
Pradesh.
iv.The proposed route for the hyperloop is between the city centres of Vijayawada and Amaravati.
It will turn a trip of more than one hour into a 5-minute ride.
v.During the first phase of the project, HTT will conduct a six-month feasibility study
commencing in October.
vi.After conducting the feasibility study, in the second phase of the project, the company will
construct and build the first hyperloop in the country.
NRDC, Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) ink pact for start-up
The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has signed an MoU with the
Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) announced on 14th of Sept. 2017.
Key Points:
i.The pact has been signed to encourage start-up in the manufacturing & technology
driven sectors.
ii.The fair was organised by IIA in collaboration with APIS and International Federation
of Inverters Associations (IFIA).

Infosys Foundation signs pact with Visakhajillasamithi for water supply systems
Visakhapatnam tribal villages
On September 19,2017 Infosys Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) with VisakhaJilla Nava NirmanSamithi (VJNNS) an NGO to construct 100 gravity fed
water supply systems in the tribal villages of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
About the Project :-
i. The endowment of Rs. 5.92 crore will be used to promote good sanitation practicesand
create efficient water management systems in all the villages.
ii. It aims at making potable drinking water available to remote tribal villages in the
districts of Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam.
India and Sri Lanka begin Joint Naval Exercise SLINEX 2017 at Visakhapatnam
On 7th September 2017, the seventh edition of India-Sri Lanka joint maritime naval exercise
SLINEX 2017 started near Vishakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh in India on the Bay
of Bengal. It will last till 14th September 2017.
SLINEX:
1. SLINEX Sri Lanka India Naval Exercise are a series of naval exercises between the
Indian Navy and the Sri Lankan Navy.
2. SLINEX series of biennial bilateral maritime exercises between India and Sri Lanka,
started in 2005.

Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu lays foundation stone for TU142M aircraft museum
On 17th October 2017, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation
stone for the TU142M aircraft museum in Visakhapatnam.
TU142M Aircraft museum:
i. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Eastern naval command Chief Vice
Admiral H.C.S. Bisht laid the foundation stone of the TU142M aircraft museum. This is being built
at the Beach Road in Visakhapatnam.
ii. The Russian aircraft TU142M was decommissioned at INS Rajali in Tamil Nadu after 29 years.

Chandrababu Naidu launches Swachh Andhra Mission, PV Sindhu chosen as the brand

On 2nd October 2017, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr.Chandrababu Naidu launched Swachh
Andhra Mission on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Swachh Andhra Mission:
i. The Chief Minister said that, 22 lakh more toilets need to be constructed by March 2018.
ii. Shuttler PV Sindhu has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Swachh Andhra
Mission.
