Kit performance
The performance of the BIO K 218 kit (Competitive test) was compared with BIO K 192
ELISA test (immunocapture test) on 270 blood serum samples. The results of these com-
parisons are shown in Graph 1. For immunocapture (Y axis) 1 corresponds to the value
obtained with the kits positive reference serum (S/P).

Seventy-four serum samples were taken on two farms, both of which had had a
large number of spontaneous abortions associated with Neospora caninum.
These 74 samples were tested using four commercial kits and one of the labora-
torys own kits. They were also evaluated by Western blot analysis. The results
were classified as positive or negative according to the majority of the kits outco-
mes. In the case of doubt, the Western blot was used as the reference.
