ELECTRICAL BUILDING SPESIFICATION

1. Electrical Installation

1.1 To provide distribution of electricity through out the site from the 3.5kVA transformers
via switchboards, sub-circuit distribution boards and interconnecting cabling/busbars
1.2 All equipment and material shall comply with the relevant National or International
standard specification. Where equipment does not comply it shall be submitted with
the Kamadjaja Projects Electrical Engineer for approval
1.3 Supply, install, test, commission and set to work the distribution system comprising
switchboards, distribution panel, switchgear, metering and interconnecting cable and
busbar
1.4 The system of supply will be three phase, 4 wire or single phase 2 wire 50 Hz.
alternating current with earthed neutral at a nominal voltage of 400/230 volts. The
voltage may vary within the range of 5 % of the nominal voltage
1.5 Equipment in hazardous areas shall be installed in accordance drilling or welding of
steelwork for the mounting of electrical equipment will not be permitted unless
approved by Kamadjaja Civil Engineer on site. Equipment shall be fixed to the
steelwork by means of approved, purpose made clamp/brackets.

2. DISTRIBUTION BOARD

2.1 These distribution boards shall be supplied with a cover plate or open window door
and be suitably painted and finished to harmonise with wall finish
2.2 All switches and associated equipment shall be fully enclosed within the distribution
board with only the operating handles protruding through the cover plate or door
2.3 Distribution boards for outdoor use shall be weatherproof and corrosion resistant
2.4 A substantial earthing terminal shall be firmly attached to the steel work of the
distribution board and connected to the earthing bar
2.5 Entries suitable for all incoming and outgoing cables shall be provided. Glands for
bottom entry cables shall not be less than 600mm above floor level
2.6 All circuits shall be clearly labelled. Labels shall be of the fabricated type and
permanently
secured. Embossed tape is not acceptable
2.7 When called for labelling of moulded case circuit breakers shall be labelled by
means of numerals. A legend inserted behind a clear plastic window on the inside of
the door shall be provided to detail the various circuits

3. DISTRIBUTION BOARD and ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT

This Section specifies the general requirements of switchgear and associated equipment
operating at low voltages, which may be assembled on site from individual items of
components. The switchgear and associated equipment shall be manufactured to the
relevant current International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Persyaratan Umum
Instalasi Listril 2000 (PUIL 2000).
3.1 MCCB (moulded case circuit-breakers)
MCCB shall be of four-pole, triple-pole or double-pole as specified. It
shall comply with and be type-tested to IEC 60947-2. It shall be totally
enclosed in a moulded casing formed from an insulating material. The
construction of the casing shall be capable of withstanding the
appropriate rated short circuit current and reasonably rough use without
fracture or distortion. The moulded casing shall have an ingress of
protection not less than IP 30. Utilization category for those MCCB
with built-in protection shall be class B, unless otherwise specified in
the Particular Specification or on Drawings. MCCB shall either be an individual
isolating unit or incorporate overcurrent and earth fault protection as specified with
shunt trip coil operated by protection relays. MCCB shall be certified, according to
IEC 60947-2, to have the following performance characteristics, rated short circuit
breaking capacity - not less than the values given in table 3.1

3.2 MCB (Miniatur Circuit Breaker)


MCB shall be of four-pole, triple-pole, double-pole or single-pole as specified. It shall
comply with and be type tested to IEC 60898. It shall be totally enclosed in a
moulded insulating case for safe use by unskilled people and also designed to be
maintenance free. Overall dimensions and fixing centres for the same range of MCB
shall be identical and suitable for fixing individually to a metal back plate or directly
mounted inside a manufacturer's designed distribution metal box. Cable terminals of
the MCB shall be at top and bottom of the units with access from front, and suitable
for terminating the size of solid or stranded conductor in accordance with Table 4 of
IEC 60898. MCB with current carrying contacts of plug-in type shall not be accepted.
3.3 ELCB (Earth Leaking Circuit Breaker)
The ELCB is used to protect the circuit from the electrical leakage. When someone
gets an electric shock, then this circuit breaker cuts off the power at the time of 0.1
secs for protecting the personal safety and avoiding the gear from the circuit against
short circuit and overload. ELCB is a security device used in electrical system with
high Earth impedance to avoid shock. It notices small stray voltages on the metal
fields of electrical gear, and interrupt the circuit if an unsafe voltage is detected. The
main principle of Earth leakage protectors is to stop injury to humans and nature due
to electric shock.

3.4 INSTRUMENT
3.4.1 The multifunction meters to be digital type complete with data logging
capabilities and be capable of measuring the following parameters :
3.4.1.1 Total Current
3.4.1.2 Frequency
3.4.1.3 Current in each phase
3.4.1.4 KWH Meter
3.4.1.5 Indicator lamp RST
3.5 FUSE

All references to fuses shall include fuses forming part of a fuse-switch, a switch-fuse
or a fuseboard. Fuse shall comply with, and be type tested to, the following IEC
60269 or BS 88 - Low-voltage fuses.
3.5.1 Fuse Carrier and Holder
Fuse carrier and fuse holder shall be constructed of ceramic porcelain or
thermoplastic. Plastic units shall be unaffected by heat generated by an
overloaded fuse or by a blown fuse. Fuse carrier shall be so designed that
there is no risk of touching live parts when the fuse is being withdrawn. The
maximum rating of a fuse inserted in a fuse holder shall not be greater than
the rating for which the holder is designed.
3.5.2 Semi-enclosed Fuse
Semi-enclosed fuse shall not be used unless specified by the Architect. In
any case, a semi-enclosed fuse shall not be rated in excess of 30A. Element
of a semi-enclosed fuse shall be provided in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions. In the absence of such instructions, the element
shall be of plain or tinned copper wires having appropriate diameters as
specified.
3.6 Surge Arrester
Surge protection device shall be suitable for application in electrical installation
operating at 380V 3-phase /220V 1-phase and at frequency 50 Hz.

4. BUSBAR TRUNKING SYSTEM

Busbar trunking system shall be designed to operate on 220/380V 3 phase 4 busbar at


50 Hz system and shall be manufactured and type tested to EC 60439-2. Busbar
trunking systems manufactured to other standards (such as National Electrical
Manufacturers Association (NEMA) of USA and UL listed) with insulation voltage of
415V may be considered as acceptable provided that the standard of manufacture is not
inferior to the relevant IEC standard and that the busbar trunking system meets all the
requirements of this Section. All material, components and accessories (such as bends,
joints, tees, feeder units, tap-off units, etc.) used for the busbar trunking shall be of the
same origin of manufacture. Busbar trunking system shall be certified by testing
laboratories or organizations as stated in the Code of Practice for the Electricity (Wiring)
Regulations.In case where busbar trunkings are manufactured under license from the
Principal Company, a letter shall be produced by the Principal Company to guarantee
that the products manufactured by the licensee will be equivalent in every respect to the
type-tested standard products.

4.1 Busbar Rating Test Current


4.1.1 Under 800A : Fused* short-time withstand current of 40kA minimum.
4.1.2 800A to 1600A inclusive: Short-time withstand current of 40kA minimum for
one second.
4.1.3 Above 1600A : Short-time withstand current of 50kA for one second.

* IEC 60269 All test certificates shall be submitted for endorsement prior
to ordering.
5. EARTHING SYSTEM

All metalworks associated with an electrical installation but not forming part of a live
conductor, including exposed conductive parts and extraneous conductive parts, shall be
solidly and effectively bonded and earthed in accordance with IEC 60364 and the Code
of Practice for the Electricity (Wiring) Regulations. A solid copper main earthing terminal
of ample size shall be provided for every electrical installation at a position near the main
incoming switch or switchboard for the connection of :

5.1 the circuit protective conductors,


5.2 the main equipotential bonding conductors,
5.3 the functional earthing conductors,
5.4 the earthing conductors and
5.5 the lightning protective system bonding conductors.

To create the equipotential zone. The main earthing terminal shall be connected to Earth
via an earthing conductor to an earth electrode or a group of electrodes. Where an
installation distributes to a number of buildings or units, a separate main earthing
terminal shall be provided for each individual building or unit at the point of intake
thereby creating a separate equipotential zone in each building or unit.

6. LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM

Lightning protection systems shall be installed in accordance with theParticular


Specification and Drawings, and as directed by the Architect. This Sub-section covers
lightning protection systems applicable tobuildings and similar structures. It does not
cover the protection ofoverhead lines and other specialized applications. The installation
shallconform to the requirements and recommendations set out in the BritishStandard
BS 6651 Code of Practice for Protection of Structures against Lightning. A lightning
protection system shall comprise air termination connected by down conductors to
earthing electrodes. In larger schemes more than one of any or all of the above items
may be used. Air terminations may be interconnected by means of roof horizontal
conductors.

7. GENERAL LIGHTING and POWER

7.1 General lidghting To provide general illumination throughout the buildings and
surrounding external area, in accordance with recognised design practice and
guidelines. In accordance with Kamadjaja guidelines :
7.1.1 Illuminance levels
7.1.2 Ensure the maintained illuminance levels meet but do not significantly exceed
the Kamadjaja Code for Interior Lighting
7.1.3 Ensure the initial circuit luminous efficacy is in excess of 48 luminaire-
lumens/watt for fixed lighting installations
7.1.4 Ensure the installed load for office lighting does not exceed 12 W/m2
7.1.5 Ensure lighting scheme complies with the Building Regulations L1 and L2 as
appropriate.

7.2 General Power Outlet to provide Socket outlet intended for supplying a fixed or
stationary appliance shall be located as near as possible to the appliance. Socket
outlet shall be mounted at a height of 1350mm above finished floor level in offices
area. In other locations, they shall be mounted at 300mm from finished floor level,
75mm from surface top measured from bottom of socket outlet or as specified.

8. POWER CABLE, CABLE TRAY and CABLE LADDERS

8.1 Power Cable are mainly for electricity supply and distribution. They shall be
manufactured International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Persyaratan Umum
Instalasi Listril 2000 (PUIL 2000). Identification of power cable :
8.2 Cable Tray
8.2.1 Material
Metal cable trays shall be perforated, formed from plain steel sheet
complying with BS 1449: Part 1, and shall be hot-dipped galvanised to
ISO 1459, ISO 1460, ISO 1461 after perforation.
8.2.2 Dimension of Tray

8.2.3 Cable Tray Accessory


Manufacturer's standard items of accessories shall be used. Site fabrication
of accessories will only be allowed upon approval of the Architect and shall
be kept to a minimum. Where special sections are required, the material,
thickness and finish shall be as specified for the standard items.
8.3 Cable Ledder
8.3.1 Material
Generally, all cable ladder fittings and accessories mentioned below shall be
manufactured from hot rolled steel to BS 1449: Part 1 and then hot dipped
galvanised to ISO 1459, ISO 1460, ISO 1461 after fabrication. For heavily
corrosive environments where specified in the Contract, Specification or on
the Drawings, cable ladder fittings and accessories shall be manufactured
from stainless steel 316S31 to ISO 683/13.
8.3.2 Fitting and Accessoris
All fittings and accessories applied to the same cable ladder system shall be
supplied by the same manufacturer to the same finish. In addition to straight
ladders, the standard product range of the same cable ladder system shall at
least include 90 bends, equal tees, fourway crossovers, 45 internal risers,
45 external risers, 90 internal risers, 90 external risers, straight reducers,
left-hand offset reducers, right-hand offset reducers, various jointing couplers,
various supporting brackets and hangers, various connectors, and various
bolt and nuts.

8.3.3 Construction of Cable Ladder


Cable ladder shall be of heavy duty type. The two rails shall be 90mm
minimum in height with top and bottom flanges of sufficient strength. The
rungs shall be spaced at 300mm centers maximum and shall have slots for
cable fixing. The working depth (depth between top edge of rail and top
surface of rung) shall be 60mm minimum.

9. DOMESTIC APPLIANCES

9.1 Compliance with Regulation


Domestic appliances together with their electric components and cabling shall
comply with the currently-in-forced edition of :
9.1.1 The specified or relevant PUIL 2000 or equivalent SNI
9.1.2 The specified or relevant IEC or equivalent standards
9.2 General Requirment
9.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, the domestic appliances shall be designed for
operation on 220 V 6%, 50 Hz 2%, single phase, a.c. supply
9.2.2 Unless otherwise specified, the domestic appliances shall be suitable in all
respects for operation in ambient air condition of temperature range between 0
and 40C, and relative humidity range between 0% and 99% with condensation
due to temperature changes
9.2.3 Unless otherwise classified as Class II appliances under the specified IEC or
equivalent standards, all accessible metal parts of he domestic appliances that
may become live in the event of electric fault shall be effectively and suitably
bonded to earth via to a common earthing terminal provided within the
domestic appliances
9.2.4 Where specified, 3-core flexible cord connected to the domestic appliances
shall conform to BS 6500 or equivalent standard. The size of the cable shall not
be less than that specified and shall be compatible with the rating of the
respective domestic appliance
9.2.5 Where specified, 13A plug connected to the flexible cord shall conform to BS
1363 or equivalent standard. The fuse of the plug shall be of a rating
compatible with the rating of the respective domestic appliance.
