voltage may vary within the range of 5 % of the nominal voltage
1.5 Equipment in hazardous areas shall be installed in accordance drilling or welding of
steelwork for the mounting of electrical equipment will not be permitted unless
approved by Kamadjaja Civil Engineer on site. Equipment shall be fixed to the
steelwork by means of approved, purpose made clamp/brackets.
2. DISTRIBUTION BOARD
2.1 These distribution boards shall be supplied with a cover plate or open window door
and be suitably painted and finished to harmonise with wall finish
2.2 All switches and associated equipment shall be fully enclosed within the distribution
board with only the operating handles protruding through the cover plate or door
2.3 Distribution boards for outdoor use shall be weatherproof and corrosion resistant
2.4 A substantial earthing terminal shall be firmly attached to the steel work of the
distribution board and connected to the earthing bar
2.5 Entries suitable for all incoming and outgoing cables shall be provided. Glands for
bottom entry cables shall not be less than 600mm above floor level
2.6 All circuits shall be clearly labelled. Labels shall be of the fabricated type and
permanently
secured. Embossed tape is not acceptable
2.7 When called for labelling of moulded case circuit breakers shall be labelled by
means of numerals. A legend inserted behind a clear plastic window on the inside of
the door shall be provided to detail the various circuits
This Section specifies the general requirements of switchgear and associated equipment
operating at low voltages, which may be assembled on site from individual items of
components. The switchgear and associated equipment shall be manufactured to the
relevant current International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Persyaratan Umum
Instalasi Listril 2000 (PUIL 2000).
3.1 MCCB (moulded case circuit-breakers)
MCCB shall be of four-pole, triple-pole or double-pole as specified. It
shall comply with and be type-tested to IEC 60947-2. It shall be totally
enclosed in a moulded casing formed from an insulating material. The
construction of the casing shall be capable of withstanding the
appropriate rated short circuit current and reasonably rough use without
fracture or distortion. The moulded casing shall have an ingress of
protection not less than IP 30. Utilization category for those MCCB
with built-in protection shall be class B, unless otherwise specified in
the Particular Specification or on Drawings. MCCB shall either be an individual
isolating unit or incorporate overcurrent and earth fault protection as specified with
shunt trip coil operated by protection relays. MCCB shall be certified, according to
IEC 60947-2, to have the following performance characteristics, rated short circuit
breaking capacity - not less than the values given in table 3.1
Frame Size Tested short-circuit Tested at power factor of
breaking capacity
3.4 INSTRUMENT
3.4.1 The multifunction meters to be digital type complete with data logging
capabilities and be capable of measuring the following parameters :
3.4.1.1 Total Current
3.4.1.2 Frequency
3.4.1.3 Current in each phase
3.4.1.4 KWH Meter
3.4.1.5 Indicator lamp RST
3.5 FUSE
All references to fuses shall include fuses forming part of a fuse-switch, a switch-fuse
or a fuseboard. Fuse shall comply with, and be type tested to, the following IEC
60269 or BS 88 - Low-voltage fuses.
3.5.1 Fuse Carrier and Holder
Fuse carrier and fuse holder shall be constructed of ceramic porcelain or
thermoplastic. Plastic units shall be unaffected by heat generated by an
overloaded fuse or by a blown fuse. Fuse carrier shall be so designed that
there is no risk of touching live parts when the fuse is being withdrawn. The
maximum rating of a fuse inserted in a fuse holder shall not be greater than
the rating for which the holder is designed.
3.5.2 Semi-enclosed Fuse
Semi-enclosed fuse shall not be used unless specified by the Architect. In
any case, a semi-enclosed fuse shall not be rated in excess of 30A. Element
of a semi-enclosed fuse shall be provided in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions. In the absence of such instructions, the element
shall be of plain or tinned copper wires having appropriate diameters as
specified.
3.6 Surge Arrester
Surge protection device shall be suitable for application in electrical installation
operating at 380V 3-phase /220V 1-phase and at frequency 50 Hz.
* IEC 60269 All test certificates shall be submitted for endorsement prior
to ordering.
5. EARTHING SYSTEM
All metalworks associated with an electrical installation but not forming part of a live
conductor, including exposed conductive parts and extraneous conductive parts, shall be
solidly and effectively bonded and earthed in accordance with IEC 60364 and the Code
of Practice for the Electricity (Wiring) Regulations. A solid copper main earthing terminal
of ample size shall be provided for every electrical installation at a position near the main
incoming switch or switchboard for the connection of :
To create the equipotential zone. The main earthing terminal shall be connected to Earth
via an earthing conductor to an earth electrode or a group of electrodes. Where an
