 TEACHING TIP-MAKING CONNECTIONS

As you teach about Heavenly Fathers plan, try to help your class make connections.

ASK - A great way to help children make connections to gospel teachings is by asking
meaningful questions. Good questions will allow them to ponder and apply the doctrine.

The LDS manual, Teaching, No Greater Call, suggests, As you consider questions to use
in a lesson, ask yourself, Will they help those I teach understand the main ideas of the
lesson? Will these questions help those I teach apply the gospel principles being taught?

As you teach about Heavenly Fathers plan, try to focus on asking questions that
will prompt deeper thinking (avoid yes and no questions.) Please note that these
questions will usually have more than one right answer. Some examples might be,

- How does it make you feel to know that you chose Heavenly Fathers plan?
- Why do you think Heavenly Father has asked us to pray?
- What are some ways you have been blessed as you prayed to Heavenly Father?
- How have you been blessed for choosing the right?
- What are some ways you can prepare to be baptized?
